A Nigerian man, identified as Ekene, has expressed concern over the rising cost of cesarean section (CS) procedures in the country. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ekene lamented the financial burden he faced as he welcomed his newborn daughter.

According to his post, the cost of a CS procedure had skyrocketed to ₦1.2 million just as it became his turn to experience fatherhood. Despite the hefty price tag, Ekene found solace in the arrival of his baby girl, describing her as his greatest joy amid the financial strain.

Quote
“It got to my turn to be a father, and the cost of CS increased to ₦1.2 million,”
he wrote.
Quote
“But my consolation is this beautiful daughter I now have.”

His post has sparked discussions online, with many sharing their experiences about the challenges of accessing affordable healthcare, particularly maternal and child health services.

Ekene’s story adds to the growing calls for improved healthcare systems and subsidies to ease the financial strain on families during critical medical procedures.
