Two members of a notorious “One Chance” robbery syndicate, Igwe Obi, 44, and Solomon Adebayo, 33, have been apprehended by operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command in Lagos. The duo, known for posing as a driver and conductor to rob unsuspecting passengers, operated along the Bonny Camp-Ajah route.

Arrest and Confession
According to a statement released on Friday by SP Umma Ayuba, spokesperson for the Zone 2 Police Command, the suspects were arrested at the Ijora Badia Bridge following intelligence gathered by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Adegoke Fayoade.

“The suspects were apprehended based on actionable intelligence. They confessed to engaging in multiple ‘One Chance’ robbery operations along the Ajah axis over the past two years,” SP Ayuba said.

Modus Operandi
The suspects reportedly disguised themselves as a driver and conductor of commercial buses. They lured victims into their vehicle, then proceeded to rob them of their mobile phones, money, and other valuables.

The stolen items were allegedly sold to receivers in the Ajegunle area of Lagos, further fueling their criminal enterprise.

Police Efforts and Warnings
The arrests were made by operatives attached to the Zonal Oracle Section, who had been tasked with investigating and apprehending the syndicate. SP Ayuba confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate other members of the gang, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The Command also urged the public to exercise increased vigilance, especially during the festive season, assuring residents that security measures are being intensified to ensure a safe and peaceful holiday period.

Public Safety Reminder
The police advised commuters to be cautious and alert when boarding vehicles, particularly in areas where “One Chance” operations are known to occur.
