
Bauchi State Police Command has cracked down on a criminal syndicate, apprehending 15 suspects linked to housebreaking, theft, and burglary during a robust security operation conducted over the festive season.*
The operation, carried out in collaboration with quasi-security outfits, resulted in the recovery of numerous stolen items, including 18 mobile phones and various household goods. This was disclosed by the command's spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement released on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Highlighting the achievements of the operation, Wakil stated that the GRA Divisional Police Headquarters, led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Holman Simon, thwarted an attempted burglary in the Wuntin Dada area on Christmas Day. Officers pursued and arrested the suspects after they attempted to flee to their rented hideout.
The suspects, all residents of Wuntin Dada, include:
1. Adamu Umar AKA Bangis, 20
2. Sadik Inuwa AKA Riders, 20
3. Ukasha Saleh AKA Baushe, 20
4. Abba Musa AKA Mankuli, 18
5. Abdulrashid Ismail AKA Over, 18
6. Ya’u Abubakar AKA Balati, 18
7. Mustapha Musa AKA Rodi, 18
8. Yunusa Abubakar AKA Dan Bazawara, 18
9. Ukasha Abubakar, 19
10. Ya’u Usman, 19
11. Iliyasu Shehu, 20
12. Sani Ya’u, 20
13. Moh’d Suleman, 23
14. Idris Halisu, 18
Recovered items included knives, electric stabilizers, car batteries, cartons of beverages, household items like pillows and mattresses, prayer mats, and cooking utensils, among others.
Additionally, a 14-year-old suspect, Usman Ali, was arrested following credible intelligence. Ali allegedly sought employment in Magama Gumau before breaking into a mobile phone shop and stealing 18 phones. Police recovered the phones and returned them to the shop owner after apprehending the teenager in Bauchi.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, praised the proactive cooperation of the community, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving a crime-free society. He reiterated his commitment to maintaining the safety and security of Bauchi residents and assured that all suspects would face appropriate legal proceedings.
