
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended a 35-year-old suspect, Ibrahim Shaibu, on Christmas Day for possession of a large quantity of cannabis sativa.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest to journalists, revealing that Shaibu was found with 40 album-sized parcels of compressed cannabis weighing 35 kilograms. The arrest took place at the Central Motor Park in Katsina.
Babafemi praised the operatives for their vigilance, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking, even during festive periods. Further investigations into the case are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to face prosecution under the relevant drug control laws.
This arrest highlights the NDLEA’s unrelenting efforts to tackle illicit drug activities across the country.
