The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Bilbis, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, successfully neutralized two armed bandits during a bold operation at the town’s weekly market.
The operation, which unfolded after CJTF operatives intercepted the bandits' movements, involved a fierce exchange of gunfire. According to sources, two operational motorcycles used by the criminals were also seized during the encounter.
“Following the successful engagement, the CJTF withdrew to their base, leaving the bodies of the neutralized bandits at the scene,” a source disclosed.
However, the victory was short-lived as other bandits launched a retaliatory attack on the town, firing indiscriminately and causing panic among residents.
The escalating situation prompted a swift response from military personnel, who were deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further violence.
As of press time, security forces remain on high alert in Bilbis, conducting operations to safeguard lives and property in the community. Residents have been urged to cooperate with authorities as efforts continue to stabilize the area.
