A magistrate court in Abuja has granted ₦1 million bail to former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki (SAN), following his arraignment on charges of false marriage, adultery, and criminal intimidation.
Turaki, who pleaded not guilty, is accused of deceiving a woman, Hadiza Musa Baffa, into believing they were legally married while allegedly cohabiting with her for several years.
According to court documents, Turaki and Hadiza reportedly lived together at Han’s Place Hotel between 2014 and 2016. Their relationship allegedly continued from 2016 to 2021 at Ideal Home Holiday in Asokoro before he rented an apartment for her at No. 12 Clement Akpagbo Close, Guzape, in 2021, where they lived as a couple.
The case took a dramatic turn when Hadiza gave birth to a baby girl, and Turaki allegedly denied paternity. Court filings further claim that he issued threats against Hadiza and the child’s life.
The court granted Turaki bail with two sureties and scheduled his trial for March 11, 2025.
