In a decisive strike against terrorism, Nigerian Army troops under Operation Fansan Yanma, a subset of Operation Show No Mercy have eliminated two notorious bandit leaders, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, along with four of their fighters in Ruwan Dawa village, Maru Local Government Area.

Military intelligence sources revealed that the operation was carried out by troops stationed at Hannu Tara camp, located along the Magami–Dan Sadau highway, in coordination with local vigilantes. The soldiers engaged the heavily armed criminals in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing six bandits and recovering firearms and motorcycles.

Gwammade, a top terror commander based in Chabi village, was closely linked to the late warlord Kachalla Sani Black, who was recently eliminated in ongoing security operations.

Another Bandit Kingpin, Kachalla Na Faranshi, Killed in Zurmi Raid
In a separate operation, troops of Operation Fansan Yanma launched an aggressive offensive in Zurmi Local Government Area, leading to the elimination of another feared bandit leader, Kachalla Na Faranshi, along with several of his men.

According to intelligence sources, the raid targeted Dutsen Kura forest, where Na Faranshi had established a stronghold for arms smuggling and organized crime. Originally from Shirgi village, Maradi, Niger Republic, he transitioned from cattle trading to criminal activities, supplying sophisticated weapons to various armed groups in northwestern Nigeria.

Na Faranshi, once an ally of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, had in March 2024 released a video brandishing heavy weaponry and threatening to attack Zurmi town. His gang was linked to multiple attacks, kidnappings, and arms trafficking across the region.

During the military engagement, troops overpowered the insurgents, killing Na Faranshi and many of his fighters in a fierce gunfight.

The Nigerian military has intensified operations in Zamfara and neighboring states, vowing to dismantle bandit networks and restore peace to the region.
