Suspected kidnappers have abducted three students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), alongside a farmer and a laborer in Ondo State.
The victims, all Industrial Training (IT) students, were seized on Saturday evening while returning from a farm near Oke Oge, Akure North Local Government Area, not far from Akure Airport. The abductors also took two other individuals—a farmer and a laborer—who were working in the area at the time of the attack.
Reports indicate that the kidnappers have contacted the family of one of the victims, demanding a ransom of ₦15 million for their release.
Confirming the incident, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, assured the public that security operatives were actively working to rescue the hostages.
"I can confirm to you that we are on top of the situation. They were kidnapped while returning from the farm. Our men have been deployed to track the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the victims," he stated.
The incident has heightened concerns over security in the region, with calls for intensified efforts to curb kidnapping and protect students and farmers working in rural areas.
