
A violent altercation between two sex workers in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, ended in bloodshed after one stabbed the other during a disagreement over a cigarette.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, February 22, 2025, near the Ndwedwe Taxi Rank on Ireland Street.
According to reports, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received an emergency call at approximately 10:29 PM. Upon arrival, officers found a woman lying on the ground, bleeding from a stab wound to her neck.
The victim, who identified herself as a sex worker in the area, claimed she was approached by a fellow prostitute who requested a cigarette. When she refused, an argument ensued, leading the suspect to draw a knife and stab her before fleeing the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident while the victim, who survived the attack, receives medical attention.
