Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted an attempt by a drug trafficking syndicate to smuggle 68 parcels of Ghanaian Loud, a high-grade strain of cannabis, to London, United Kingdom. The illicit consignment, weighing 42.2 kilograms, was concealed within the walls of crated cartons and was seized at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on Friday.
According to an NDLEA statement, three individuals—a freight agent and two dispatch riders—were initially apprehended in connection with the attempted shipment. Further investigation led to the swift arrest of the operation’s mastermind, identified as Samuel Bitris, at his residence in Exodus Estate, Ajah, Lagos.
The agency has reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and preventing Nigeria from being used as a transit route for illicit substances.
