Nigerian on-air personality (OAP) Chinedu Ani, popularly known as Nedu Wazobia, is currently embroiled in allegations of defrauding a non-governmental organization (NGO) of ₦60 million.
Social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) has been vocal about these accusations, claiming that Nedu failed to fulfill his obligations after receiving an advance payment intended for a scholarship project targeting Nigerian students.
In response to these allegations, Nedu's management, represented by Sarah Williams Konha, Chief Operating Officer of Talking Drum Management Agency, acknowledged the partnership with the NGO and the receipt of funds.
However, they highlighted that unforeseen challenges arose during the project's execution.
Despite these issues, the event proceeded, securing approximately ₦19 million in pledges, with ₦4 million already raised.
Post-event discussions between both parties failed to reach a consensus on the way forward, leading the NGO to involve the police.
After investigations, law enforcement advised an internal resolution, indicating the matter did not warrant criminal charges.
VDM has also released a video suggesting that the NGO has filed a report against Nedu with UK authorities, potentially escalating the matter internationally.
In a related development, Nedu has issued a pre-action notice to VDM, demanding the removal of all videos featuring him, a public apology, and ₦500 million in damages for alleged defamation.
His legal team asserts that previous police investigations found no legitimate case against him concerning the NGO's claims.
