The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 30 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Asaba, Delta State.
The operation, carried out by operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate on Friday, March 14, 2025, followed credible intelligence on the suspects' alleged cybercrime activities, according to EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
In a statement released on Friday, Oyewale confirmed that the raid led to the seizure of five luxury vehicles and several mobile phones believed to be connected to fraudulent operations.
"The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence regarding their involvement in internet-related fraud. Items recovered include five exotic cars and phones suspected to be proceeds of crime," the statement read.
He further stated that the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue, assuring that they will face prosecution once inquiries are concluded.
The EFCC has intensified efforts to clamp down on cybercrime, with the agency urging the public to provide useful information that could aid in tackling financial crimes across the country.
