A notorious kidnapper and armed robber, identified as Abdullahi, popularly known as “Honor,” met his end during a coordinated security operation in Akwanga, Nasarawa State. The operation, carried out by the Nasarawa State Police Command, the Nigerian Army, and local vigilante groups, took place late on March 14, 2025.
According to a statement released by the police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was cornered near the Akwanga Central Mosque around 10:00 PM. When operatives moved in to arrest him, Abdullahi attempted to flee on a motorcycle. Despite repeated warnings to surrender, he resisted arrest, prompting the security team to engage, leading to his death.
A search conducted on the suspect uncovered a Beretta pistol, though the serial number was untraceable, along with twelve rounds of 9mm live ammunition. One of his accomplices managed to escape, reportedly injured by gunfire. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Akwanga General Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated efforts, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, applauded the teamwork between the security forces. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to rooting out criminal activities across the state.
“This operation sends a strong message to criminals. We will not relent in ensuring Nasarawa State remains safe for law-abiding citizens,” the commissioner stated. He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies, assuring them of continued protection and swift action against criminal elements.
