Lagos police operatives on early Saturday morning arrested two armed men suspected of plotting criminal activity along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway.
The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Cletus, 32, and Adegor Joshua, 27, were apprehended around 4 a.m. in the Sangotedo area during a routine patrol.
According to Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the duo’s suspicious behavior prompted officers to search them, uncovering a semi-automatic pistol loaded with five rounds of live ammunition.
“Our officers on patrol intercepted the suspects at about 4 a.m. in Sangotedo. A firearm and live ammunition were recovered from them. Investigations are ongoing to determine their intentions,” Hundeyin stated.
The arrests have sparked speculation about whether the men were planning a robbery or more sinister activity in the upscale Lekki-Ajah corridor, an area that has seen a rise in nighttime crimes.
Residents have repeatedly called for increased police presence to secure the area, especially in the wake of recent security concerns.
