Senate President Godswill Akpabio has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, urging him to address the internal crisis within his party before making divisive comments about Nigeria. Akpabio's remarks came during a valedictory session in honor of the late Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).

He responded to Obi's recent statement that "the labour of Nigeria’s heroes past is now in vain," calling it reckless and divisive. Akpabio questioned Obi's leadership capabilities, pointing out that the LP is one of Nigeria's smallest parties and suggesting that if Obi cannot resolve his party's issues, he may not be equipped to handle national challenges like Boko Haram.

The Labour Party has been experiencing internal strife, particularly between factions led by Julius Abure and those aligned with Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti. This discord has led to separate National Executive Council meetings and legal battles, including a move by Obi and Otti's faction to challenge Abure's leadership in the Supreme Court.

Peter Obi has acknowledged the party's internal issues but has emphasized that Nigeria's broader problems are more pressing. He has called for unity within the LP and urged members to focus on national concerns, stating that the country's challenges are far greater than the party's internal disputes.

Opening your dirty mouth to spew nonsense about a man whose integrity you cannot  match on the floor of the National Assembly speaks a lot of how stupid you are.

Obi need to understand politics leadership is not about being in charge. Only he needs to show that he believes in his own political party not just going around talking and giving out money. I don’t know if I can trust this man. Come 2027. Tinubu will win if he runs
