The bobo just use your head. That name is not anywhere close to an idoma name. The Idomas share common boundaries with the Igbos in Enugu and Ebonyi and they understand each other's language, some bear names as a result of the closeness.

ok so this the situation. I met a  nigerian at a funeral today. He approached me and asked me my name, and I told him,  Ihunayachi Bashari, so he replied, am guessing you must be igbo and a northerner mixture.I say yes, mostly ngwa igbo and hausa. He laughs and says igbo is igbo. I smiled and said i guess so. So after a sec he introduced himself as chinemelu Ezebunnadim. I was like, so you are igbo too, and with a confused look on his face he says no am idoma. I was like what's the difference? And he started telling me this tall tales about how idoma people came from edo and igala  people. I was like okayoo. Personally my family is composed of so many tribes, we are not tribal, but we at least acknowledge the different parts of us. So to not argue I accepted his definition of what idoma is. So I asked him to speak his language and to me he was speaking igbo, a dialect of it, just like my ngwa igbo and  my kano hausa is different from central hausa. Its so weird, so to native igbo speakers please enlighten me, are idomas related to the igbos, cause it makes no sense that you speak the language share names, and even traditions and yet you say there are no relations.Personally I believe we  are all mixed with each other some how..but this guy just looked like i had stoned him by calling him igbo, or at least of having relation to igbos.

The guy was jobbing U. There are similarities within the tribes in Nigeria. Some have more things in common with others.

u see its something that can intregue u, some one from onitsha from anambra state can claim that he not igbo,
the history is there 4 us to lear but 4 me,the boundaries ,closeness of igbos wif idomas has made them to be speaking
igbo but, but but , well we all re nigerians and lets focus on one nigeria

U didn't say idomas r related to igala u went far to d igbos. Mehn i dnt think we r historically connected oh bcos we r so so different in culture, believe, food, religion and idoma dialect is completely different 4rm igbo, no similarities at all so u sée. Even ur story is nt convincin bcos.

You haven't done enough research. There are similarities in names, culture, some spoken words and even food, especially pounded yam and bitter leaf / egusi, love of palm wine etc. Aside from common boundary, there has been a long history of inter-marriages. Nevertheless the two are distinct with Idomas more closely related to the Igalas.

when u dont know anything about a particular topic dont just talk out of ignorant ok. igbos and idioma are related some how of which i am sure about it. i am an ibo guy but i have come accross a book some years ago that stated it clearly that some part of igbo have a relationship with the idiomas and i will make my research and give you the full details when i am chanced. the same goes to the jamaicans, some haitians, guyana and the surinames.
