Victims of human trafficking come mainly from Asia, Eastern Europe and two African countries, Morocco and Nigeria.
And now, anti-trafficking organisations across Europe have noticed that an increasing number of victims are coming from just one small state in Nigeria.
Edo State, in the southern part of the country, is thought to be the place of origin of up to eight in 10 Nigerian victims of human trafficking for segxwal exploitation.
The state is home to just 3pc of the country's population.

But astonishingly, 80,000 women from this province have been trafficked into Europe in the past five years.
"There is no doubt that there is a significant Nigerian trafficking problem into Ireland -- especially from the one state, Edo," a Ruhama spokeswoman told the Herald.
She added that a growing number of women were trafficked from Africa to Ireland.
"African women can also be easier to identify, now that former Soviet countries are part of the EU," she suggested.
"A lot of women from Eastern Europe do not hit the radar because they do not come into contact with authorities as much."
