Revenge affair occurs in a relationship in which one feels slighted in some manner and seeks revenge by engaging in an affair. Is "revenge affair" the best option?

How could something negative like a revenge affair ever be the better option. An affair based on revenge is immaturity on the person that only delays them from dealing with and accepting that the previous relationship didn't work
