President of the Association, Babatola Adeyemi, at the ceremony at the weekend, said Dangote was given the award in recognition of his sterling contribution to the nation’s economy.
He said Dangote has added value to the lives of Nigerians and has continued to do so with the creation of jobs, adding that the Association cannot overlook the contributions of such a great individual.
Other winners of the awards are Olofa of Ofa and President Rice millers Association of Nigeria Oba Mohammed Okikiola Gbadamosi , Ayoola food limited among others.
Earlier in his address at the occasion, the Standard Organization of Nigeria SON, said it will setup offices in all markets nationwide in its renewed crusade against patronage and sale of substandard in the country.
Director General SON Dr Joseph Odumodu said over 80% of goods shipped into the country are substandard.
He said the SON market desk will check every product in the markets before it’s sold to Nigerians “so if the product escapes at the ports or the border and get to our markets our officials will be able to track them.”
He urged marketers and distributors of imported goods to check for certificates of standard issued by SON before collecting goods from importers.
