The passage of the Freedom of Information Bill into law is certainly not a call to anarchy. There is no doubt that every right has a limitaion;so freedom of speech has its limitation.Information acquisition and dissemination apart from educating people can also be a tool for sowing the seed of discord or disaffection in the society especially in a multi-ethnic setting such as ours. This indeed requires that we have one fundamental objective in the back of our minds when we dish out information to the public which is offering service to our country as we would be doing our nation a disservice if we do otherwise.Misrepresentation of fact is surely not within the contemplation of the FOI law and rushing to the press when we have not cross checked and our facts for confirmation before publication is not only misleading but also,a rape of the FOI law.

Also,in view of the fact that we all do not have same understanding of issues especially religion and politics;have little or no knowledge on information management and though not limited to this, the difficulty in retrieving information at the public dormain as well as likely injury that would be done to the country and the citizenry in general if certain sensitive informationis given to those who cannot handle it.The media in the west that we look up to for almost every thing,do not run their country down.TheFOI law should be used to add value to ourselves as a people as well as launder the image of our country.People should avoid play to the gallery.

Misrepresentation of fact is just putting the situation mild,it is simple lying to the public. Not fair as it casts doubt or questions one's credibility.
