Suspected armed robbers, yesterday, bombed a police station around the Gamawa area of Bauchi state. The robbers were said to have robbed a microfinance bank in the area, carting away bags of cash, and bombed the police station while making their escape.
Eyewitnesses said paramilitary policemen engaged the robbers in a gun battle, which left two bystanders wounded. The bombing happened less than 24 hours after a failed suicide bombing attempt on the police headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno state. The police authorities in the state said it is investigating the attack.
