Is Muhammed his realy name or nickname?

Is Muhummed the realy name of your socalled prophet the founder of islam or is just a nickname he later assume after takin the mantel of prophetship to serve the teritorial god of mecca "allah" which he said 'i was called to serve the god of this city,the god of this kahaba'
