Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: In-Laws Take Away Daughter Over Hubby's Inability To Pay Bride Price |
on: 3-07-2012 12:16 PM
| tnx Bro is only ur comment i c here, are they selling their daughter? wot if a man empty his account just 2 pay 4 bride price, den they will be eating their finger if d wife enter the house. abah lets be realistic here #1000,000 is too much 4 d guy if he doesn't have tangible work doing......A man can pay the amount ha has to pay as d in-law required and later suffering his wife bcox of d huge amount he paid on d wife's head ... yeah i understand what you mean like it depends on the tribe. I come from hausa-fulani(mom) and igbo(father) and when my elder sis got married a few years back the inlaws was surprised when my dad told him to pay what he thought my sis was worth. The guy withdrew half of his life savings from the uk abt 121k euros and handed my dad... and because in my father's village bride price is 5knaira my dad after collecting the 121k euros handed it back to our inlaws minus 45 euros. the guy coming from benin had been scared by his friends that igbos as inlaws are greedy until he got the surprise of his life, that he ended up telling my dad what he thought of igbos before and how his mind had changed. But lets not get this wrong though, there are so many factors that contribute the bride price amnt, and first and for most is the community the child -as her father's people are coming from, then the type of clan, then the type of family and etc, so lets not generalize and say that all igbo people are as nice as my dad or the aforementioned father. | | |

Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: Son Drags 96yrs Old Father To Court Over Plans To Re-Marry |
on: 1-06-2012 07:51 AM
| You know what it is the father's fault, HE NEGLECTED TO TEACH HIS childern THEIR TRIBAL TRADITIONS, INSTEAD OF AMERICAN CULTURAL ONES. FIRST OF ALL THE FATHER DOES NOT HAVE TO ASK ANYONE BUT HIMSELF AND HIS KINSMEN(NOT HIS CHILDREN) IF HE PLANS TO TAKE ANOTHER WIFE. IT IS A NORMAL THING THAT CHILDREN DO FOR THEIR AGING PARENTS WHEN THEY THEMSELVES CANNOT ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF THEM, THEY MARRY THEM A YOUNG WIFE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM, ITS AN AGE OLD IGBO CUSTOM. INFACT BY CULTURAL CUSTOMS, IT IS HIS SONS DUTY TO MARRY HIM A SECOND WIFE IF HE ASKES, ITS NOT AS IF HIS MOTHER IS STILL ALIVE TO OBJECT TO A SECOND WIFE. THIS IS JUST SHAMEFUL AND IT SHOWS HOW WE ARE LOSING OUR TRADITIONS AND CULTURE TO STUPID WESTERN IDEALS. WHAT A STUPID DISGRACE FOR A CHILD, ESPECIALLY TAKING HIS FATHER TO COURT, THAT RUBBISH IF IT COMES DOWN TO IT, IS EVEN SUPPOSE TO BE SETTLED AMONGST THE ELDERS OF THEIR FAMILY OR VILLAGE, NOT A COURT. Forum / The Buzz Central / Re: "Marrying Many Wives is a Sin In Islamic Religion" - Fuji artist Adewale Ayuba |
on: 28-05-2012 04:55 PM
| why are we arguing about this, religion or not, traditional african families are polygamous if they can afford it. It was like that before the Arab brought Islam and like that before the Europeans brought Christianity. Africans should stop following other men blindly and have faith in their native religion. Its as if Africans are so afraid of the power and success that they fail themselves without trying.Personally coming from a polygamous family, it works for us, we are financially stable, we fight like every other family, but we love each other whole heartedly. Whether single or multiple women are married, it comes down to whether they want to make it work. And if so it will. We should stop trying to westernize our culture and accept our traditions. Stop borrowing other people's culture when you don't know the repercussion that comes with it, stick with what you know. | | |

Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: Should female children share in the family inheritance? |
on: 19-05-2012 06:44 AM
| if dis happened in Naija n Igbo land precisely...........4rm wat I have learnt so far in such case...........The 1st wife wit her two female children wil stay in the house until the children get married n left but none of dem wil inherit any property.....den dat 1st wife wil still remain in the house as long as she is alive.............but the properties will be shared 2 d male children weda they are 4rm the first, second or third wife
umm i dont know what clan you come from, but not all igbo clans practice that. when my grandfather died my mom inherited land, and so did her brothers-who inherited more than she did, but the point is she got some inheritance even though she was married off to another tribe and land. Also the male dominance and unfair sharing of inheritance happens when the father doesnt take time to share his property before death. I think once a man hits 40 or 50 he should sit his family down and share his property while alive to avoid all this craziness.

| incomplete list, what of majid, frank atus, john dumelo, tuface, sexy steel, uti, bryan okwara ,joseph project fame presenter etc? I believe the list is of UMARRRIED MEN. FOr the record ebukas's head is big-yuck. Number 1 and 2 are correct. The rest are questionable. Plus not trying to be tribalistic but why all these igbo boys, i think one of the adenuga's son should be on this list, like my future husband in my dreams jide . I think the list should go like this 1. chris attoh 2. peter okoye 3.jide adenuga 4 bryan okwara 5.john dumelo 6. benjamin joseph 7.Lynxx | | |

on: 28-04-2012 10:10 AM
| I dont think she deserved a sack, but it was wrong for her to give him such a personal gift. How would she feel if her boss bought her undies or bras for her bday? Abi un easy, so i no blame the guy, but i think he should have pulled her aside and warned her about it. For a 32 year old woman who is educated, she is stupid. If she wanted to give him a gift she should have given him a card. In america such intimate gifts like underwears can be seen as segxwal harassment and can lead to her getting sacked, but usually you get a warning. With that said ntoko to her. | | |

| umm, its a lie, were there not any other competition, this must be a lie, she aint pretty, she okay, she looks lika yoruba girl, i bet you that she is not full igbo, and or she was stolen from a yoruba or edo woman, barren women are that desperate, because this girl can never be the most beautiful igbo girl. or maybe the igbo idea that behavior and character is more beautiful is what they used to judge this, cause it certainly aint physical. In nigeria hausa-fulani and igbo women are the most beautiful and am glad i have both in me | | |

on: 18-04-2012 10:20 PM
| This is so sad that these people think this idiot president GEJ deserve such accolades. This show how America wants to keep nigeria from progressing by praising this thief and mugu. Plus That aside, wait I thought jonathan was ijaw man, what does he have an igbo name for-my mom told me GEJ 's mom and paternal grandma is igbo, but that GEJ father is by cultural tradition an Ijaw man because of his father's paternal lineage is ijaw. If that is the case does that mean an Hausa? Cause i always claimed both culture. My mom is ngwa and my dad is hausa-fulani paternally and ika-igbo maternally. Why must we answer or belong only to our father's tribe and not both. | | |

on: 17-04-2012 05:52 PM
| ALL LIES, IF IS LIKE THAT THEN ALL MY BROTHER WOULD HAVE NOT MARRIED.THEY DID NOT EVEN GIVE 1/3 OF ALL U LISTED. YOU ARE JUST A FOOL , GET UR FACTS RIGHT NEXT TIME . FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
For your igbo List very from village to Village, from clan to clan. This list is nothing compared to the one my sisters' husbands got. so go park well, not everything has to correlate to you schema of things to be true, though all igbo cultures are similar they are not copy paste similar, they vary just a bit.
