The family of Omowunmi Akinwade, a 25-year-old fresh graduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, is in distress following her sudden disappearance after she went to visit a male friend in Sagamu, Ogun State.
It was gathered that Omowunmi left Ago Iwoye after her convocation ceremony at the university on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, to visit the friend but reportedly never got to her destination.
According to the male friend identified simply as Paul Eto, the last time he spoke to her was when she called to tell him that she was close to Sagamu.
The friend said he told her the exact junction to stop for him to come and pick her up. However, he later claimed that his phone was on silence when she called him six times.
He further claimed to have returned her call but she didn't pick. He continued calling her number till the next day and eventually went to the police to report the matter.
He also contacted her family and informed them that their daughter might be missing.

Nigeria’s 2008 long jump silver medalist Blessing Okagbare has been banned for 10 years for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit announced on Friday.
The 33-year-old, who is also a sprinter, was expelled from the Tokyo Olympics last year before the women’s 100m semi-finals after testing positive for human growth hormone at an out-of-competition test in Slovakia on July 19.
“The Disciplinary Tribunal has banned Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare for a total of 10 years,” read an AIU statement.

A Nigerian tourism promoter has taken to his Twitter handle to express his sadness after a military officer cut his hair at a checkpoint in Kaduna.
@its_freezle said he was traveling from Kaduna to Jos with two of his friends when they were stopped by military officers at Kurmi Idion. He stated that the military officer asked them to remove the face caps they were wearing and when he spotted his hairstyle, he described him as being irresponsible. He said the military officer asked him to go to a nearby barbing salon to have his hair shaved.
He mentioned that when the military officer saw that he wasn’t interested in cutting his hair, he ordered his colleague to use a scissor they had to cut it. The Twitter user mentioned that when he tried to resist them from cutting his hair, he said the officer corked their guns and threatened to shoot him. He said he was forced to allow the military officers to cut his hair against his will.
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress faction in Osun state backed by the Interior Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, have rejected calls that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, should intervene in the crisis rocking the party in Osun State.
The group made their rejection known in a rejoinder to an article titled, ‘Open letter to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu: The Osun calabash must not be broken ” written by one Akanni Omo Oba.
The factional APC leaders, under the aegis of The Osun Progressives, explained that Tinubu is an interested party in the crisis and should not be allowed to be a judge.
The PUNCH had reported that Aregbesola, a former Osun State Governor between 2010 and 2018, and Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who is seeking reelection, had been at loggerheads over the control of the APC organs in the state.
How previous interventions failed
The TOP leaders narrated how previous interventions by Tinubu, a leader of the party Bisi Akande, and APC at the national level failed.

Four men have been arraigned before a Yola Chief Magistrate’s Court over the death of a 28-year-old man, Adamu Ahmadu, who was wrongly accused of stealing a phone.
Ahmadu, who was the son of a security guard working with the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, Yola, was accused by Hamidu Umar, the son of the deposed ward head of Damare, Yola South Local Government Area, of stealing his mobile phone on January 22, 2022.
Though the deceased denied the allegation, Umar reportedly insisted he produce the phone.
It was learnt that the 55-year-old and three others resorted to torture to force out a confession from the victim.
The other three defendants were identified as Sholle Manas, Faisal and Nahau.
Umar, assisted by Faisal and Nahau, allegedly took the victim to an uncompleted building around 5.30pm and tortured him with wood and broken blocks.
Ahmadu was said to have sustained fractures in his two hands, among other injuries, which resulted in his death.
During their re-arraignment on February 15, 2022, Umar maintained his not guilty plea, while the second defendant, Manas, who had initially pleaded not guilty, changed his plea.
Manas told the court while pleading guilty that he met the first defendant and the two others beating the deceased, adding that he was instructed by Umar to join them in beating Ahmadu.
information gathered that the third and fourth defendants, listed in the court records, were at large.
According to a first information report, “Ahmadu was rescued by the new Ward Head of Damare, Sahabo Umar, who also reported the case at the Wuro Hausa Police Station.
“However, Umar, upon his return home, found the missing handset on a sofa in his palour.”
The report further stated that the victim, who was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, for medical attention, died on Sunday, February 13, 2022 and was buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Chief Magistrate, Dimas Gwamu, adjourned the case till the following day for continuation of trial and sentencing of the defendant who pleaded guilty.
A 48-year-old Abuja street beggar caught with N500,000 and $100 cash has been released.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) cleared the beggar, saying she did no wrong and that she got the money from begging.
The cash gotten from alms begging was thereafter handed back to her on Thursday, February 17.
Recall that the woman was detained by the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) of the FCTA after she was found in possession of the huge sum of money last week.
Malam Sani Amar, the Director, Social Welfare Services of the secretariat, described Ibrahim, an indigene of Kaduna State, as one of the die-hard beggars that had been apprehended by the secretariat’s task force many times.
The director said the the beggar accumulated money she realised from begging over the years without investing it.

Bola Agbedimu, A 30-year-old woman who was apprehended on February 14 for spending fake one thousand naira note at kila market in odeda local government area of Ogun state.
The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Odeda divisional headquarters by the chairperson of Egbalawa crops/fruits association, that the suspect was caught spending fake one thousand naira currency notes in the market.
Upon the report, the DPO Odeda division, CSP Femi Olabode detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested. On searching her bag, a sum of 24,000 fake currency note was discovered.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a habitual counterfeit naira note dealer. She confessed further that her mode of operation is mixing the counterfeit notes with genuine ones and used it to purchase goods.
A preliminary investigation revealed that she has been arrested on many occasions at different markets within Abeokuta.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday objected to an application for examination of the iPhone SIM slot of a musician, Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley, charged with cybercrime.
EFCC counsel, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, raised the objection during cross-examination of the second prosecution witness, Mr Augustine Anosike, before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
He said that the witness should not be made to open the SIM slot of the phone to determine SIM card presence, since he never opened it during his analysis.
EFCC preferred cybercrime charges against the musician on May 14, 2019.
Fashola, who sang the popular song: “Am I a Yahoo Boy”, was arraigned on May 20, 2019, before Justice Nicholas Oweibo, but he pleaded not guilty.
The court granted him bail in the sum of two million naira with two sureties in like sum.
Trial had since begun in the case and the second prosecution witness who concluded his examination-in-chief on Oct. 27, 2021, is under cross-examination.
On Thursday, defence counsel, Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN), asked the witness if he recalled testifying that his gadgets could capture and retrieve deleted information.
When the witness replied in the affirmative, Ojo asked if he had indicated in Exhibit F or F1 that any information was deleted and retrieved.
In response, the witness told the court that the content of his report indicated that items recovered also included deleted information.
When the defence counsel redirected the witness to specifically answer the question, he told the court that for instance, in the column tagged messages, it was stated that two pieces of information were deleted but recovered.
He said that in the web/history column, it was indicated that about 688 information were deleted but recovered, while another web column indicated that 120 items were deleted but recovered.
Referring to Pages 1958, of Exhibit F1, the witness told the court that it indicated that an incoming text was deleted, adding that the message ID read [email protected].
He told the court that the deleted and recovered items showed that the gadgets was able to recover even deleted information.
Defence counsel then asked the witness if the defendant’s iPhone had a SIM card when he worked on it.
In response, the witness told the court that he did not open the phone of the defendant, but only ran the extraction and emerged with the result.
When asked if he was able to detect that the iPhone was a used phone before it was sent to him for analysis, the witness replied that he was not in a position to do so.
When asked when the first information extracted was done, the witness said that for instance under contact, the first index was created on Sept. 2, 2018, and modified on Dec. 21, 2018, as recorded in the device.
Defence counsel then called for the iPhone of the defendant and applied to the court for the witness to be allowed to open the SIM slot in order to determine whether a SIM card was present.
However, prosecutor objected to the application on grounds that the witness had already testified on record that he did not open the phone during analysis.
He argued that having not done so during analysis, the witness should not be made to do so during trial.
However, Ojo said that what he sought to demonstrate before the court was whether the SIM card was inside the iPhone of defendant, and not to remove or tamper with it.
He told the court that he also sought to demonstrate that the said phone number of the defendant, which ended in 32, was in use at the moment, whereas the same phone was in the custody of the court
After arguments and counter-arguments, the court upheld the argument of prosecution that opening the SIM slot was not the proper thing to do.
The judge adjourned the case until April 6, for continuation of trial.
According to the EFCC, the defendant committed the offences on different dates between Nov. 26, 2018, and Dec.11, 2018, as well as on May 10, 2019.
The commission alleged that Fashola and his accomplices conspired to use different Access Bank utimated teller machine cards to defraud their victims.
It alleged that the defendant used a bank credit card issued to another person, in a bid to obtain fraudulent financial gains.
The EFCC also said that the defendant possessed counterfeit credit cards belonging to different people, with them intent to defraud.
The alleged offences contravene the provisions of Sections 1 23 (1) (b), 27 (1) and 33(9) of Cyber Crime (Prohibition) Prevention Act, 2015. (NAN)

Uduak Akpan, the prime suspect in the murder of Iniubong Umoren a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Uyo, said he was tortured to sign a statement given to him by the Department of State Services (DSS).
He told the Akwa Ibom State High Court presided over by Justice Bassey Nkanang on Wednesday.
At the resumed hearing on trial in Uyo, the state capital, the suspected murderer said he signed the statement to avoid more slaps and beatings from DSS officers.
The trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, had adjourned the case, for a mini-trial to be conducted, in order to determine the voluntariness of that statement.
Counsel to Uduak Akpan, Barr. Sampson Adula, had, last week, objected to its admissibility on grounds that it was not made voluntarily.
Speaking while being cross-examined during the mini-trial, Uduak Akpan, who is facing a two-count charge of rape and murder admitted that he was the person speaking in the video CD played in the court but stated that the DSS officers gave him the answers and the questions to rehearse before the video recording.
The first accused had also disowned the statements that two police officers, the IPO and ASP, had testified that he made to them in the course of their investigation in the matter.
However, when cross-examined in the trial-within-trial, the DSS investigator, Ama Okeke (PW10) told the court that the allegation that the first accused made the statement the prosecuting counsel sought to tender in evidence involuntarily was not correct.
The prosecution witness testified that the DSS has a standard interrogation room with electronic gadgets, cameras, recorder, pen, tables, chairs, etc, where a suspect could relax to write or make his or her statement voluntarily.
“And when the first accused person was in this room, he was asked if he knows why he was in the DSS? My Lord, he had voluntarily told my team that it is because he killed Iniubong Ephraim Umoren”, Okeke also testified.
The witness further testified that it was not also correct that the video recording of the first accused which was played in the court was as a result of questions and answers as alleged by the first accused person, noting that his team only asked Uduak Akpan to narrate what happened that led to the death of Iniubong Umoren.
The court admitted the video Compact Disc (Video CD) that was played in court in evidence, marked as exhibit two in trial-within-trial.
Justice Bassey Nkanang adjourned the case till February 24, for ruling on the trial-within trial and also for the conclusion of the evidence of PW10.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to quit his position as the minister of petroleum resources.

The PDP said Buhari has failed “woefully” in his duties as the minister of petroleum resources following the importation of off-spec petroleum into the country.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, called on Buhari to quit as minister of petroleum resources and appoint a qualified professional to head the ministry in order to restore sanity to the system.
The PDP added that the petroleum ministry as presently constituted is “peopled with persons with no relevant education, experience and expertise to manage this critical sector that accounts for over 90 percent of the revenue of the nation”.
