62  Forum / The Buzz Central / I’d Rather Die Fighting Against Bad Government – Falz Reveals on: 17-02-2022 10:20 AM

Nigerian rapper, Falz has revealed that he would rather die fighting against bad governance in the country.

During an interview with HIP TV on Wednesday Falz urged Nigerians to get their permanent voter cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The 31-year-old also lamenting the flaws in governance, added that it is no longer news that Nigerians suffer “so much injustice.”

He said:
Quote
“Everywhere is hot but our heads need to be hotter. Saying we’ve faced so much injustice is an understatement. We’ve seen so much nonsense that the authorities haven’t owned up to. There’s so much rubbish going on.

“Everybody knows that right now more than ever. Everyone should register to vote. 2023 is literally here already. Before the deadline, which I think is June, we all need to register. It’s very easy. You can do it online.

“It’s a rough environment we’re living in. But I feel like there’s nothing to be scared of when you’re already at rock bottom. That’s how everyone should be feeling. It can’t get much worse than this.”

Speaking further, he added: “Why would I fear for my life when the kind we exist in is not exciting. Basic amenities are unavailing. Every Nigerian is one small sickness away from either going broke or passing away. What kind of life is that?

Quote
“What’s there to be happy about or fear for in life so fickle and fragile? I’d rather die fighting for a cause than getting knocked down by a bike man because there’s no proper traffic control. It’s as simple as that.”

65  Forum / Education / STRIKE: FG Ready To Resolve Issues With ASUU – Minister of Labour & Employment on: 17-02-2022 09:14 AM

The federal government has reacted to the strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige reacting on behalf of the federal government on Wednesday stated that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities was a “leave” following the failure of the union to notify his ministry before embarking on strike.

Ngige also noted that the union failed in its agreement with the National Inter-religious Council headed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Samson Ayokunle, by failing to report to the committee before embarking on strike.

The minister made this known in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja.

Recall that ASUU had on February 14, 2022 announced the commencement of a one month rolling and comprehensive strike after its National Executive Council meeting held at the University of Lagos, Akoka.

The union had blamed the federal government for constantly failing to honour some of the lingering demands such as payment of revitalization funds for universities, payment of earned allowances for university lecturers, deployment of the UTAS payment system for University lecturers.

Ngige, however, said,
Quote
“I am sure you know NIREC which is headed by the sultan and the CAN president. I am sure you also remember that the President mandated his Chief of Staff, the ministry of labour and the ministry of education to find a way to make sure that we resolve the issues with ASUU.

“Now, NIREC met with ASUU twice and they discussed some of these issues. The leadership of ASUU said they would go back and meet with their NEC. We were waiting for them to come back and then we heard they were going on strike.

“ASUU failed to get back to us and proceeded on strike without sending notifications. They just gave themselves a leave. If you want to go on strike, you should at least inform us officially by giving us notification but they refused to.

“You can not just go on strike like that, it is illegal. So, they are just on leave. We will work with them and they will call off the strike.”

73  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Police Report Reveals Abba Kyari’s Brother Received N279m From Hushpuppi on: 16-02-2022 09:39 AM

POLICE reports have revealed how members of a syndicate led by international scammer, Ramon Abass, popularly known as Hushpuppi paid N235, 120, 000 to a younger brother of a former Commander, Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari

Investigation also reveals that Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, equally transferred N44 million to his brother’s bank account in multiple transactions.

However, the investigation report obtained by our correspondent on Monday failed to disclose whether Kyari’s brother was acting as a proxy for his embattled elder brother, who is currently in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The DCP, who was suspended by the police last July for his alleged links to Hushpuppi, allegedly attempted to sell part of the cocaine which was seized from some drug dealers in Enugu, while he was on suspension.

The investigation report, which was submitted to the Attorney-General of the Federation, disclosed that a total of N279.120 million flowed to the younger Kyari’s bank account at various times from the cyber scam syndicate members – Efe Martins (lead coordinator), Sikiru Adekoya, Usman Ibrahim and Hussaini Ala.

It stated: “Sikiru Adekoya has many times received money from Hushpuppi and Efe and has equally transferred money to Usman Ibrahim. Adekoya after initial denial of having any financial transaction with both Hushpuppi and Efe Martins eventually admitted receiving various sums of money through transfers into his GTBank.

“However, he could not offer reasonable explanations of what the sums were meant for and what he did with the monies. The network of Hushpuppi Internet fraud syndicate consists of Efe Martins as the lead coordinator who through his company, Efe Martins Integrated Concept Ltd., has at various times transferred different sums of money to Sikiru Adekoya, Usman Waziri Ibrahim, Hussaini Ala.

“A junior brother to DCP Kyari is a major beneficiary of funds from the Zenith Bank account of Hussaini Ala from where he at different times received various sums totaling N218,120,000. He also received the sum of N44m in multiple transactions from DCP Abba Kyari.”

Kyari was taken into custody by the NDLEA alongside four officers after he was indicted for dealing in drugs by the police.

His accomplices were Sunday Ubuah, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agrigba and John Nuhu.

Another officer, ASP John Umoru, is said to be at large.

Curiously, the Special Investigation Panel, which authored the report, did not invite or interrogate Kyari’s brother about the huge sums of money deposited into his bank account by the fraud syndicate and the DCP.

In its recommendations, the Force Disciplinary Committee, which reviewed the SIP investigation report, indicted Kyari for violating the social media policy of the Nigeria Police Force by responding to the Federal Bureau of Intelligence’s indictment on his Facebook page without recourse to laid down procedures.

For hobnobbing with fraudulent characters and violating the police professional ethics, the committee awarded Kyari the punishment of reduction in rank from DCP to Assistant Commissioner of Police, stating that “the evidence of (N8 million) bribe is circumstantial in that the bribe mainly was not paid into the officer’s account nor was any proceeds of the bribe traced by the panel much less linking the officer to any such proceeds.”

The FDC further said there was no evidence of direct fund transfer from either Hushpuppi or Efe into any of Kyari’s accounts “but there were records of various funds transfers totaling N17 million which originated from Efe Martins into the accounts of Usman Waziri, Hussaini Ala and brother to DCP Kyari.”

Meanwhile, the force has intensified investigations into Kyari’s links to criminal gangs and alleged involvement in money laundering as directed by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

Malami had in his legal advice to the police leadership said a prima facie case of money laundering had been established against the former IRT Commander.

The advice read in part: “That there exists a prima facie case of conspiracy, collaboration, receipt, conversion, transfer and/or retention of proceeds of unlawful activities contrary to the provision of Section 15, 17 & 18 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004 and Section 17 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Est) Act, Cap EI Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 against DCP Abba Kyari and other suspects in view of the overwhelming evidence showing the nature of his disguised financial transactions and activities with Abbas Hushpuppi, Efe Martins, Usman Ibrahim Waztiri, Sikiru Adekoya, Hussaini Ala and Sharon Festus who are all confirmed members of international internet fraud network.

“Although the facts and circumstances of this case as contained in the case fire are suggestive to money laundering offences against DCP Abba Kyari and his accomplices namely: Abbas Hushpuppi, Efe Martins, Usman Ibrahim Waziri, Sikiru Adekoya, Hussaini Ala and Sharon Festus; in order to successfully prosecute them, there is a need for a more thorough dissecting and tracing of the suspected 33 proceeds of crime received by DCP Abba Kyari directly or indirectly through the said accomplices.”

The AGF also ordered the police to trace the movement of money, withdrawals from the various accounts linked to Kyari and his suspected accomplices as well as the use of the funds in purchasing physical assets and properties in order to clearly expose “the disguised nature of the suspected proceeds of crime”.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said investigation into Kyari’s links to the drug gang was still ongoing as the DCP was being interrogated by detectives.

Nigerian pastor, Kingsley Okonkwo, has dubbed Feminism a movement influenced by Satan without any scriptural backing.

Okonkwo started off the conversation by saying the way boys are raised is very different from girls as the boys need more direction, he went on to say male and female are not the same, claiming this is backed by scripture, science and statistics.

According to him, the feminism movement is backed by sentiments. Okonkwo described the movement as one influenced by Satan.
His words ;

Quote
“Boys need a lot of direction. The way you raise boys is not how you raise girls because they are not the same. Male and female are not the same. We have people who argue that they are the same. I always tell people that there are 3 things that inform my teaching, scripturally tested, scientifically and statistically back. I don’t teach from sentiments. Many people try to build their scripture from sentiments so they start fighting back that oh feminism and all that. That men and women are the same. We are never the same. We have different roles.

Scripture tells us that, science tells us that, the statistics also tell us that. But unfortunately, Satan is using offended and broken people to start those movements.

People that, maybe they’ve grown up in homes where the fathers were abusive then they start saying ‘oh we don’t need any head in the home, men and women should be equal.’ It’s coming from a place of hurt, from a place of abuse.

Maybe their dad was absent so they start saying ‘no woman should commit to any man. They are reacting based on something that has happened which we understand that what happened was bad but they should not try to change the roles and the gender because that is very important.

Nigerian medical experts have expressed disappointment in the federal government's plan to import a herbal tonic from Madagascar - The health workers who kicked against the plan described the government's move as disgraceful - The president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has, however, listed four reasons why Nigeria should avoid the herbal remedy
Following the federal government's plan to import COVID-Organics (CVO), a herbal tonic from Madagascar for the treatment of coronavirus, Nigerian medical experts have kicked against it, The Guardian reports.

Pharmacists under the aegis of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and other medical workers in the country excluding medical doctors under the umbrella of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) have expressed their opinions on why Nigeria should not import the herbal tonic.

gathered that PSN in reaction to the federal government's plan on Tuesday, May 12, rejected the importation of the herbal tonic and described it as “thoroughly disgraceful.”

Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, the president of PSN, said medical experts in the country are shocked that the government is about to spend scarce foreign exchange to import herbal concoction called COVID Organics (CVO).

He said:
Quote
“While in principle we would not mind Nigerian government importing any new drug that is proven to cure COVID-19 or indeed any other disease for which we have neither the capacity, nor the technology to produce locally, we are totally appalled that Nigeria is about to spend scarce foreign exchange to ‘import coal into Newcastle’. Even if we are not going to pay for this, it is thoroughly disgraceful that a country that should be the leader of Africa, with the largest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will allow itself to be dragged this low.”

The PSN president listed the following reasons why Nigeria should not import the herbal tonic: Nigeria has about 174 universities; 20 faculties of pharmacy and about 69 federal government-funded research institutes, including National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja and the National Institute for Medical Research

(NIMR), Yaba, Lagos while Madagascar has only six universities, one faculty of pharmacy and nine research centres. Nigeria has some of the best scientists (pharmaceutical, medical, biochemical, biological, among others) in the world who have done so much work on natural and herbal medicines. Nigeria has developed a pharmacopeia of natural and herbal

products and has one of the richest flora and fauna–potent sources of phytomedicines. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, a number of them have raised their voices that they have herbal and natural products that can be used to treat or manage COVID-19. Some have patents. Many herbal companies and producers have announced specifically that they have herbal formulations that can do what this ‘invention’ from Madagascar does.

Ohuabunwa went on to note that pharmacists recommended that a portion of the funds donated for the pandemic should be dedicated to local research and development, however, the government has remained silent
