What he said So this young man came to my office, he was looking extremely haggard, he came to beg for some money What do you do? I asked him Nothing sir, he replied, I am HIV positive, I need the money to buy my RV drugs I gave him some money and told him to come and see me the following day When he arrived the next day, I explained to him that he needed a job! What can you do? He said he is a good driver but his driver’s license had expired! He went to renew his license! I got him a job as a driver with a pastor! He resumed on the first day of the following month Within three days of resuming the work, he called me again! Sir, I have been sleeping in an abandoned car for weeks! Please, I need a loan to rent an apartment! I will repay in bits out of my salary! All I need is 200k! He got it! The pastor he was working with also called me The pastor said the young man was harassing him and his wife for a loan to rent a house! That was all he talked about! ”Please, help me, I need 200k! Help me with 200k!!!” The pastor said he didn’t have 200k to spare, I should tell the young man to be professional and do his job I called the young man! But you now have 200k, why are you troubling your employer? The young man got angry! Was it because I had a little challenge and I was asking for help that they reported me to you? They have the money, I know they do! They just don’t want to help me! Why? I calmed him down. You are not entitled to anything other than your salary! They really didn’t need a driver! The man and his wife had always driven themselves! I had to beg them to employ a driver knowing it is extra money out of their pocket! Keep your head down, face your job He disappeared a week later! With 175k of the pastor’s wife! The woman had a nursery school and withdrew the money to pay her staff members their salary! I got the call! I was forgiven due to my previous relationship! The pastor and his wife were disappointed! But such is life!
It’s been eleven months! Then I saw him yesterday! He came to beg for forgiveness! I told him I never took offence! It was the pastor and his wife he needed to talk to! ”Sir, please pray for me! I now have HIV sir!” Me: You had it before? Him: No sir, I was lying at that time! Me: I don’t understand Him: I lied that I had HIV so that you will have mercy on me and help me! Somehow I fell sick last week and I had to do some tests! The result says I have HIV! That was why I came, sir! Please pray for me! Please help me, sir! Me: Wow Wow Wow (like a siren)

The state governor who is currently in Thailand to understudy the process, got alot of Nigerians excited when he announed his plans for marijuana on social media yesterday. Seun Kuti in his reaction said, ‘ehn Mr excellency sir, if u want me to move to your state, just say so. This beating about the bush is unnecessary. Afrobeat is about to switch home base y’all. Just imagine one good joint for my back ache then better Ondo pounded yam to heal my stomach pain’.
The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has expressed the need for the Federal Government to encourage the cultivation of medicinal cannabis, also known as Indian hemp, in the country. Akeredolu, who described Ondo State as a hotbed of cannabis cultivation in Nigeria, urged the Federal Government to support the growing of medicinal cannabis in large quantity in the state, saying its (cannabis) industry was capable of creating thousands of jobs for youths and spur the economic diversification of the country. He made the request on his twitter handle on Tuesday while commenting on his recent mission to Thailand. The governor said he was in Thailand in company with the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Col. Muhammad Mustapha (retd), for a programme tagged, ‘Medicinal Cannabis Extract Development.’
According to him, Nigeria might be shortchanged with an estimated value of $145bn in 2025 if it failed to tap into the legal marijuana market, explaining that their visit to Thailand was to assess the materials and best practices (of medicinal cannabis planting and growing) with the possibility of replicating them in Nigeria. He said, “We are here to study how cannabis can be of more advantageous to the state and Nigeria, at large just the way Thai Government has done. Cannabis is used for medical purposes; how can it be cultivated for specific purposes and not be abused. “The programme is centred on exploiting the possibility of medicinal cannabis extract development and it is aimed at building capacity and researching the modality of licensing for planting and extracting cannabis oil in Nigeria as well as exploiting its commercial potential with focus on Ondo State. “We know how to grow it and it thrives well in the Sunshine State. How to grow cannabis is never a problem in Ondo State.”

There’s a woman who lives two streets away from where I stay, her husband passed on years back. On my way back from work one day, I stopped at the suya spot close to my house to buy suya when this woman approached me & said she wanted to talk to me. After buying the suya, we both went to the house. She explained how rough things have been for her since her husband left & how her little kiosk wasn’t able to cater for her & her 5kids. She came to see if there was a way I could help with a loan of 50k payable in 3 months. Inside I smiled; cos she sees me dress in suit & head out to work everyday she must assume my dad owns the bank & I can influence policy & get them to give a loan to a non-customer. Long serving customers find it difficult accessing loan’s let alone someone without an account. I told her I would get back to her in a day or two. I discussed it with husband when he returned & we decided to help her. The following day I sent someone to her place with cash & she showed up minutes later to come say thank you. Few weeks later she shut down her kiosk on the street and moved further to the main road, picked a spot & started selling akara, yam, pufpuf, agege bread & ogi. She would head out very early cos I always see her on my way to work as early as 6/6.30am. In the evenings on my way back I would see her still there but this time with her kids. One Saturday she comes to the house to return the loan. She then says she wants me to help her with opening an account. I promised to get her account opening forms, guide how how to fill it & told her to go return it to the branch nearest to the house. Few months later she pays us a visit, says she will hardly be at her spot as she will be spending time at a building site just after ikotun-egbe. Building, I asked? She said they have had the land for a very long time & she now wants to start building from the proceeds of her akara sales. Akara seller started constructing a one storey building meanwhile every morning I would wear suit, head to work & be called madam!
Are you planning to move out of Nigeria? Planning a trip abroad can be really stressful. So imagine how it must feel when you’re planning on moving permanently and leaving your home behind. Here are the top 5 things you must do before you pack up and move to another country:
1. Save, save, and save! When you move to another country, you’d need to have a lot of cash especially because you never know when you’re going to get a job. I would suggest you start saving up months (preferably a year) before you make that big move in order to avoid ending up broke or in debts.
2. Look for a job Another way to avoid being broke within your first few months in your new place of residence is to get a job. You could do that by looking through options in your field online or getting in touch with firms that have openings you can apply for. And if you do not get a job offer that is remotely similar to your field, worry not. You just need to get enough cash to get on your feet properly.
3. Tour the country before the big move By doing so, you can save yourself the trouble of familiarising yourself with the environment, people, culture and every other important factor that could lead you to change your decision on moving there.
4. Get Your Long Term Visa This could be a temporary residency, permanent residency, work, business, a tourist visa, or a variety of others. Also, if your passport is about to expire, you need to go ahead and renew it. It would save you time and money to fly back home to do so.
5. Get A New Debit or Credit Card Before jet-setting off to your next big destination, take a few extra steps to make sure you can access your funds. This is important because some countries make it difficult to pay for things with foreign cards. There are really easy ways to get an international debit or credit card.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh has asked the European Union Mission in reducing the spate of youths’ migration to the union’s member countries. In an interview with newsmen at the end of the monthly meeting of Heads of Missions of European Union member countries in Abuja, the appeal was made by Audu Ogbeh who stated that the Federal Government wants youths to remain in the country and invest in agriculture.
Quote
“We met today to explore areas of support for agriculture, agro-industrial growth and put forward the European Union proposal for partnership and enhanced support. “We also looked at the possibility of their private sector investors coming into Nigeria to play a part. “We also raised the issue of migration of our youths across to Europe and the fact that it is not sustainable. “It is something that Nigeria will like to see come to an end by creating economic activities here to make sure that young people stay back at home. “The response of the European Union was very encouraging. “We want to set up a joint committee that can advance this programme because rather than youths going out, we want them to come back and invest in agriculture. “We are also lucky that Nigerian youths are interested in agriculture, different from youths in other countries. Even those who studied other courses are interested in agriculture. “We did raise the issue of kidnapping of investors here, we do not want any Nigerian or foreigner investing here to be kidnapped and taken away,’’ Ogbeh said.
