LoL!! 5.0 out of 5 stars. So funny, I had to watch it twice!! Now, seriously, Nigerians at home and in diaspora can protest as much as they like, the fact is, nothing will change.  The current government officials or whatever would probably remain in office until the next general elections.  Maybe people will then use their votes wisely next time around.  The vote is our hammer, we should use it wisely!!
2  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Welcome Home: Saudi Arabia To Deport 1,500 Nigerians on: 30-08-2011 05:57 PM
Can you imagine? Saudi Arabia of all places! What the heck is wrong with some Nigerians? Must they be so desperate about leaving Nigeria that they are even prepared to get stuck in countries such as Saudi Arabia. Some of these countries do not provide any serious opportunities different from what may be available in Nigeria.  Have they gone mad? For God's sake, let them stay in Nigeria and explore some of the opportunities, even though limited, that are available there.

Leaving Nigeria for foreign countries without the right papers these days is a sure invitation for trouble, and all sorts of humiliation you can think of. Nigeria is not that bad!!

Dear Gibson, you are a serious advocate. But look at it this way. Here is the World making a big deal about human rights. Is it simply about men's rights or human rights? If is human rights it includes women! If so, I submit that every human being has the right to own their own body. The argument against abortion seems to deny this basic premise of universal human right for the female gender. The woman has absolute right over her own body, including what grows or exists inside her body and whether to carry it to full gestation or not.

Spot on!

The quest for money, as they say, is the root of all evil. I cannot even begin to imagine how some people demean themselves for such amounts of money, which, in any case, cannot remarkably change their lives. Nigeria my father land, what shall we do with thee....

I am not surprised at all.  Over the years, there has been a downward slide in standard of education. Who is to blame for this? I'm inclined to put the blame more on the doorstep of the various tires of government. I think there has not been enough commitment to raising the standard of education to impressive levels.

It is just too bad for them to be doing this in a civilised society. United Kingdom has turned to United Africa Country. There children are spoilt and they cannot work, it is we African that will travel downthere and work for them and from our work we will give them earnings of their income.  This is the time for we Africans to develop our continent and do the right thing for our continent.
Already the Africans can work hard, but our problems is bad leaders.

I couldn't agree with you more bro. The whole scene is absolutely shocking. It reflects a serious breakdown of decency within sections of British society.  Those who claim that poverty is to blame for this criminal behaviour, are totally off the mark. In my opinion, what is responsible for this is greed, callousness and a total lack of respect for others. Fact is, for many of them shown in the pictures, they are unable to keep a job, even if they are provided with one. May God help us.

It's good to write stories, but do you always have to compare Nigeria with every country you write article about?

Secondly, these little boys are only looters, and not in anyway a hard-core extremists in Nigeria that only understand a show of force.

If you were in the Police, you'd understand what it means to face a crowd of angry mob, and a crowd of hungry mob.

Good. These riots were as a result of deep-seated resentment of perceived police racism, youth unemployment and injustice in the system with cuts in social welfare and many more. It only needed a catalyst to ignite it and that was the fatal shooting of a suspect by police.

While there may be deep seated resentment, injustice, youth unemployment etc ds does not excuse the criminal vandalisation of personal properties and businesses of other citizens. This kind of criminal behaviour must be condemned by all well meaning people. These thugs were looking for an opportunity to loot and distrupt and they found one.  What they did in the last three days has huge implications for UK residents. The impact is already being felt, as loads of people were unable to get to work today while many businesses lost revenue. So, what justification can there be for this reckless display of violence?

Dupe Ellen Awoyemi (15) from Drammen, who has been confirmed as one of those killed in the July 22 bomb attack in central Oslo and shooting rampage in Utoeya island. "She was a beautiful girl in every way. Warm, good and kind. She was kind-hearted and caring towards everyone," says the director of the youth choir that Awoyemi sang with..
Norwegian police on this week ended a six-day search for bodies on the island where anti-Islamist extremist Anders Behring Breivik killed 68 people and say they are increasingly certain he acted alone.

Gun laws across the world are becoming increasingly lax.  In any case, if they were tightened, LUNATICS bent on causing havoc would still have found a way around it.  It's a shame that our world is slowly collapsing under the weight of values breakdown and there's not much we have been able to do about it.
What happened in Norway was tragic. My heart goes out to the victims families.

Natural disaster is no respecter of  any country and can occur anywhere. I suppose that's just a way of nature telling us that we need to pay attention to environmental care.  My heart goes out to the bereaved.
