121  Forum / The Buzz Central / AGBERO: D’banj’s Bodyguard Allegedly Hits UK Female Fan on: 23-05-2012 05:06 PM

Seun Bankuli, one of the Mushin touts who incidentally is D'banj personal bodyguard is yet to clear himself from the mess he got involved in last night at Aura nightclub, London.

Information at our disposal reveals that, the muscular and very hefty guy hit a girl at Aura Nite Club last night, but he was Punched back instantly by the British Dj/Photographer, Lekan Kamson who witnessed the scenario.

A non-Nigerian Fan was trying to take a picture with D'banj when the uneducated thug held her hard on the wrist and pushing her buttock away from KokoMaster.

Even Naeto C tried to stop him to restrict from such act but he was too late. D'Banj is not aware of the harassment done on his fan. British Promoters and event organizers are to hold a meeting on Thursday to decide if they would rather have an alternative security for Kokomaster D'banj .

In a statement, the British DJ/Photographer, Lekan Kamson when speaking outside the club said" he has to do his job as a security but it is a taboo to hit a woman in UK. We value and cherish them, beautiful or ugly." But in Nigeria, the reverse is the case as we maltreat our Women... "Charity begins at home"

While everyone was sleeping, Luke and Jessica hopped into bed. Luke began giving Jessica a very sensual massage and shortly after the two hit it off. They must have thought no one would see them as the lights were off but trust Biggie to have his infra-red cameras on stand-by!

123  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Dr. bags 33 years in prison for exposing bin Laden on: 23-05-2012 04:51 PM

The Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA in the hunt for Osama bin Laden was sentenced to 33 years in prison for treason Wednesday, officials said, in a further blow to relations between Islamabad and Washington.

The United States had been negotiating behind the scenes to win freedom for Dr. Shakil Afridi, who was detained by Pakistani intelligence agents after the May 2, 2011, U.S. special forces raid that found and killed the al Qaida founder in the northern town of Abbottabad.

Word that Afridi had been tried in a tribal court, rather than in a regular Pakistani one, came just after Pakistan and the United States failed to come to an agreement at the NATO summit held in Chicago on reopening a land route through Pakistan for supplies to coalition soldiers in landlocked Afghanistan.

The Afridi case illustrates the stark differences between the two countries on anti-terrorism issues. Afridi is regarded as a hero by American officials but as a traitor in Pakistan.

McClatchy revealed in July last year that Afridi had set up a fake health program in Abbottabad, sending health workers door to door to vaccinate residents for Hepatitis B, in an effort to get DNA samples from the house where the CIA suspected that bin Laden lived.

American officials were never sure that bin Laden was present in the home, to which they had traced a key al Qaida courier. The work by Afridi was carried out in the weeks leading up to the raid and was an important part of the CIA’s attempts to verify that bin Laden was in the Abbottabad house before mounting a risky operation in another country’s territory to kill him. It remains unclear whether Afridi’s efforts gained any useful information.

After the bin Laden raid, Afridi remained in Pakistan, where he was arrested three weeks later by agents of the military’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency. U.S. officials believe he has been tortured in custody, a claim angrily denied by Pakistani military officials.

Afridi’s case was heard under colonial era tribal laws that give the local administration Pakistan’s tribal area sweeping powers to jail people, even though his alleged offense was committed in Abbottabad, where tribal laws do not apply. However, Afridi was officially employed to work in the tribal area, in the part known as Khyber agency. He is also a member of one of the tribes of the area.

News reports here said Afridi was sent Wednesday to the Central Jail in Peshawar, the main city in the northwest of the country. The local nurses and other health officials in Abbottabad who unwittingly cooperated with Afridi have been fired.

In January, U.S. Defense Secretary, Leon Panetta, had gone public with Washington’s concerns about Afridi.

“I am very concerned about what the Pakistanis did with this individual. This was an individual who, in fact, helped provide intelligence that was very helpful with regard to this operation,” Panetta said during an interview aired by CBS’s “60 Minutes.” “He was not in any way treasonous towards Pakistan. He was not in any way doing anything that would have undermined Pakistan.”

However, Pakistan regarded the bin Laden raid as a national humiliation, and the cooperation of one of its citizens angered many here. Panetta’s remarks had confirmed on the record that Afridi had worked for the CIA. Under the laws in Pakistan, and many other countries, including the United States, working for a foreign intelligence agency is a crime.

U.S-Pakistan relations disintegrated last year over a series of clashes, including the bin Laden raid, culminating in a “friendly fire” episode in November in which American aircraft attacked two Pakistani border outposts, killing 24 soldiers. In response, Pakistan stopped NATO supplies to Afghanistan passing through its territory.

124  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Father arrested for selling day-old son for N350,000 on: 23-05-2012 04:03 PM
Shock and disbelieve could best describe the expression on the faces of residents of Alagbado area of Lagos State last week, following the arrest and startling discovery that one of their neighbors, Mr Abraham Olaniyan, sold his day-old baby to an Anambra  State business woman for  N350,000.

Before the arrest, sympathizers and close relatives of the Olaniyans had thronged their apartment to console them on the death of their baby.

Report said the suspect’s wife , Mrs Nkechi Olaniyan was pregnant for the fifth child. But the family, as gathered, had been going through financial difficulty which led to the suspect’s inability to care for his immediate family.  On the day of delivery, the suspect, a bricklayer, reportedly took his wife to  a private hospital around Alagbado where she was delivered of a baby boy.

Crime Alert learnt that trouble started Mrs. Olaniyan regained consciousness, an hour after the delivery, and she was informed that her baby had died.   She reportedly demanded severally to see the remains of her baby, only to be told that he had been buried already.

Suspecting a foul play, she reportedly contacted the police and expressed fears that  the purported story of her dead child was shrouded in unfathomable circumstance.  The Police immediately arrested the husband, a development that initially  sparked up reactions from different quarters.

But preliminary investigation, according to Police sources, revealed that the 26-year-old father allegedly connived with some medical staff  to sell the baby, following his inability to cater for him and his siblings. According to the sources,“ we arrested the man based on his wife’s disclosure that he had one time threatened to sell one of their children.

She said when she was pregnant, her husband asked her to terminate the pregnancy because of their financial state but claimed she refused. So, after she regained consciousness and was told the baby had died, she insisted on seeing the corpse and when they did  not, she concluded her husband could have made do his treat.

“ At first , her husband denied . But he later confessed that he sold the baby for N350,000 to a woman in Anambra State who had been been looking for the fruit of the womb for fifteen years. His confessional statement led to the arrest of the doctor of the hospital and two nurses, who during interrogation, told us  the man gave them his consent and that the woman was aware of the whole plan”

Investigation, as gathered, further revealed that the woman was anesthetized immediately she put to bed, apparently to prevent her from knowing when the illicit transaction would take place.

On how the business woman was arrested in far away Anambra, police sources said, “ she was called on the phone by Abraham who said he wanted to see her. A place was booked for the meeting and when she showed up, we arrested her.”

Meanwhile , back in Onitsha , the apartment of the business woman simply identified as Rachael was agog with celebration. One of her relatives was already in her house to help her massage her body and also bath the child. The joy between her and her husband over the arrival of their baby knew no bounds , owing to the several years of waiting for a child of their own. It could however not be ascertained whether she revealed the source of the baby’s arrival to her husband.

But their joy was short lived following her arrest two weeks after the purported arrival of their long awaited baby .

126  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "NIGERIANS ABROAD" From dreamers to prisoners on: 23-05-2012 02:24 PM

For many Nigerians, travelling abroad in search of the 'good life' is the ultimate goal. Nothing else matters to them. But while some follow the laid-down procedures for obtaining the required documents, so many others settle for illegal arrangements, which normally end in lamentation. For those in the latter category, they employ all manner of pranks to beat immigration laws of their host countries, and ultimately regret their action. Some who attempt to enter Europe through the desert route turn themselves to Tuareg wanderers in the process. They trek from Mali to Libya, passing through Egypt and other African countries, with the hope of ultimately crossing over to Spain by sea.

Some are lucky to have achieved their aim, but many are not so lucky, as they perish in the desert. Again, the more conceited among them take to travelling with fake documents which, at the end, earn them instant deportation or, worse still, lengthy jail terms once they are caught at the entry points. Many who are able to beat all odds have the onerous task of evading their host countries' law enforcement agents and immigration officials. A United Kingdom-based immigration lawyer, Mr. Fola Rahman, once shocked his listeners when he revealed that no fewer than 20,000 Nigerians were languishing in various prisons and detention centres across Europe for immigration offences.

Rahman, who was the guest speaker during the Nigeria Union of Journalists Guest Forum held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said many of those in prisons include pregnant women, the aged and youths. "We have a lot of Nigerians abroad today that are stranded. They don't have right documentations. Many are in prison and their parents don't know they are in prison. We have more than 20,000 and if you look at it that way, it's serious." Many of these travellers do not obtain the right advice before embarking on a search for the elusive good life, and they end up frustrated, and resorting to illegal means to survive, Rahman said. As at February, 500 Nigerians were in jails across India and another 1,000 in Chinese prisons.

Over 300 Nigerians are said to be serving various jail terms in Indonesian prisons for peddling hard drugs, while 16 of them are on death row. On the condemned 16, the Senate President, David Mark has bad news for them - "they are on their own, as their offences are drugs-related," he was quoted to have said. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof. Itse Sagay, also shares this view. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Human Rights Commission said they would ensure that the 16 Nigerians receive fair treatment.

In January 2007, a 21-year-old Nigerian, Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi, was hanged in Singapore for drug smuggling, despite pleas from the Nigerian Government, the United Nations and international human rights groups to spare his life. During the visit of United Kingdom's Minister of Immigration, Damian Green, to Nigeria last year, he said there were about 6,000 Nigerians incarcerated in various prison facilities in the UK. The Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, during a fact-finding mission to Brazil, returned with a chilling story of 456 Nigerians being held in various prisons across the South-American country. Among these, Dabiri-Erewa said, were a 72-year-old grandmother, Fausat Aosede, 13 women and 443 other Nigerians, who were being held for drug-related offences.

In an earlier interview, Dabiri-Erewa said about 100 Nigerians were also in detention in Ukraine for various offences, adding that the country had called on Nigeria for their repatriation, which has yet to be effected. She added that Brazil had invited Nigeria to sign a repatriation treaty with it since 2009, but the Nigerian Government has yet to respond, underscoring its perceived lackadaisical attitude towards protecting the rights of its citizens. According to her, these Nigerians may stay longer in jail because Nigeria does not have a repatriation agreement with Brazil. The latter sent a document to facilitate the agreement in 2009 but is still awaiting a response from Nigeria.

Observers believe that Nigerians are also being held in other prisons in the United States of America, Indonesia, Italy, Germany, Spain, as well as other African countries. While some have been executed for drug trafficking in Arab and Asian countries, others are on death row for the same offence. But some have argued that many Nigerians are fleeing the country in droves because of leadership failure. They cite the huge youth unemployment as one reason why many flee the country. However, some eminent Nigerians argue that those are not enough reasons to resort to illegalities.

Dabiri-Erewa expresses her worries over the issue on Wednesday, explaining that Nigerians in foreign prisons can be categorised into two: those who committed crime and these in jail for racial reasons. Perhaps stating official position, she says that whoever committed crime should face the consequences, and that the concern and worry of her committee tilt more in the direction of those who are victims of racial prejudice. According to her, those in this group are not usually tried in court, nor are they given lawyers to defend themselves. She recalls a visit of a six-man delegation to Indonesia in company with a former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Madueke, where they pleaded on behalf of some Nigerians being held for drug trafficking. The mission failed miserably, Dabiri-Erewa explained.

Expressing her frustration, she states, "Why should Nigerians involve themselves in drug trafficking when they know that in countries like Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, it attracts death sentence?" Dabiri-Erewa shares a story of how Nigerians who were caught for immigration offences such as over-staying at the expiration of their visas in China were treated: "those who are caught are sent to prison, while a fine of $5,000 is imposed on each of them. Since it is difficult for someone in prison to raise such a fine, many of them end up dying in prison without trace, many Nigerians on illegal stay usually change their names in the bid to evade identification by security agents." A Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Kingsley Omose, reasons that wherever Nigerians find themselves, they must obey the laws of that land and forget what obtains in their own country. He says many Nigerians in foreign countries still think they are in Nigeria where they can bribe their way through.

However, he chides the Federal Government for not being proactive enough in the matter concerning Nigerians in foreign prisons. He calls for the establishment of a support structure in Nigerian embassies to take up matters concerning Nigerians who are in conflict with the laws of their host countries. With the seriousness the developed countries attach to the welfare of their citizens, Omose says anytime any of those citizens is arrested for any offence overseas, officials from their embassies follow up on them. "They follow up on them right from the police station to the courts. They ensure that the citizen gets fair treatment. Nigerians abroad don't get this kind of treatment. Many Nigerian ambassadors do not even know the number of their countrymen living in their host countries," he states. Omose also suggests that the government should adopt exchange of prisoners, where possible, to get many Nigerians out of foreign jails for repatriation to their home countries where they can serve their prison terms.

A lecturer and a former head of Psychiatry Department, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Osogbo campus, Dr. Adeoye Oyewole, notes that there are basic things to know before travelling abroad. First, he says travellers must have valid travel documents. Second, if they are relocating, they must be ready to experience what he calls "adjustment - or psychological disorder." Oyewole adds that many of those who are desperate to travel out have little regard for obtaining valid documents, but would rather patronise vendors of counterfeit documents. "I heard a case of a Nigerian who was released from prison and his bond documentation was faulty. When security agents came for him at his residence, he jumped down from a high rise building and died instantly," he says.

127  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Man shoots bricklayer who attempted to rape his daughter on: 23-05-2012 02:16 PM

The police in Lagos on Saturday arrested one Asiribo Baba, 40, for allegedly shooting a bricklayer who attempted to rape his daughter. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Police Inspector Femi Martins said Baba allegedly shot Ifeanyi Arinze, 29, who was moulding blocks at a building site in Agbara, Lagos. He said investigations showed that Arinze climbed the fence of Baba's residence in Agbara to pluck oranges in the compound when he saw Baba's 14-year-old daughter, who was sleeping outside.

"After he plucked the oranges, he went to the girl, sleeping on a mat, and touched her Bosom  but the girl screamed. "Arinze covered the girl's mouth with his hand but her younger sister, who was playing outside, came and called people,'' he said. The inspector added that Baba, who heard the screaming of her daughter, came out with a gun, ran after Arinze and shot him in the leg as he was about to jump over the fence. He said other workers at the building site reported the case immediately to the police while Arinze was taken to the hospital.

128  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "SOBBING" See the Nigerian School where pupils learn under trees on: 23-05-2012 02:04 PM

The Ogbogba-Iga Otukpa Primary School reminds one of what probably obtained during the stone age or better still the colonial era when  formal education was more of a luxury. The primary school is situated at Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area and less than 20 minutes drive from the Otukpa country home of the Benue State Deputy Governor, Chief Steven Lawani. The ramshackle structure located on the Otukpa-Lokoja highway, a major road that connects Benue to the Federal Capital Territory via Kogi State is an eyesore that could be mistaken for a makeshift shade.

The school’s structure is made up of “two blocks of classrooms” represented by a round thatch roofed structure supported by three wooden pillars without seats  and desks for pupils. The second structure which is an improvement on the first, has an aged corrugated iron  roof and supported by wooden pillars on both sides. It could actually be mistaken for a local chicken house by a first time visitor to the vicinity of the school. But for the football field that is located adjacent the “classrooms” and wooden blackboards under the sheds provided by mango trees and a big car wheel that was hung on one of the mango trees that serves as school bell, one wouldn’t have had an inkling that teaching and learning actually take place within the ‘complex’. But it provides covering for no less than 50 pupils who have taken their fate in their own hands by dedicating their early years on earth to learning, irrespective of their obvious challenge and the insensitivity of those entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in the state.

What beats the imagination of many is the fact that the school is located just a stone throw from a major highway and it has never attracted the attention of the authorities despite the despicable picture it paints. The fact the Ogbogba-Iga Otukpa primary school and its embarrassing structure is situated just a few minutes drive from where the Benue State Deputy Governor hails from raises more questions than answers. Though at the time of our visit, its pupils were said to be on holiday, some members of the community who spoke to Vanguard Metro,VM,  regretted that repeated pleas to the state government for intervention had gone unheeded.

For Mr. Benedict Aboh, who claimed he has lived all his life in the village, the dehumanising condition the pupils of the community are forced to acquire their early formal education  leaves a sour taste in the mouth of every parent in the village. He said the situation has forced many parents to send their wards to primary schools located at Olamaboro village, in nearby Kogi State. He said most of the children who got enrolled in other primary schools outside their community are forced to trek distances to and from the schools on daily basis.

According to him, some of the kids have also met their untimely deaths on the highway in a bid to cross the ever-busy Otukpa-Lokoja road on their way from or to the schools outside the community. Aboh claimed that on several occasions the villagers had sent emissaries to the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board,SUBEB, for intervention without fruitful results. He said: “On several occasions we sent emissaries to SUBEB in Makurdi, pleading that they come and take a look at the school with a view to intervening in whatever way possible in order to erect better structures for pupils to learn and acquire knowledge but till date nothing has happened. When we discovered that SUBEB was not willing to come to the aid of the school we decided to embark on self-help projects in the school.

“I am sure you must have seen the burnt brick structure that we started within the school some years back? We started the building which is still at its foundation level, but for lack of resources we could not make much progress. And unfortunately what we have so far erected has come under severe weather condition and they are already collapsing”. Aboh urged the state government to come to the rescue of the community and pupils whom he said were being subjected to untold hardship all in a bid to acquire knowledge. According to him: “That school is an embarrassment to the state government  and a shame that should not be allowed to linger”.

Another member of the community who craved anonymity, claimed that he has a child in the school. He stressed that it is an irony that a state government that anchored its development agenda on providing the future generation of the state a veritable platform for better life has completely negated its commitment to the future leaders of the community. “The question I keep asking myself whenever I look at that school is, what does the future hold for the little ones who crowd that ramshackle structure to acquire education? The fact is that no one can adduce any excuse or reason for leaving the school in its present condition. After all we all supported and voted the ruling party and they have no excuse to treat us this way”.

He added: “All we are asking is just for the intervention of the state government in order to save us the appalling condition our wards and children learn everyday”. When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the State Universal Education Board SUBEB, Mr. Lemon Atero, said the school would be listed in the Board’s next work plan for the reconstruction of primary schools in the state. Atero who acknowledged the constraints the board is currently faced with, said: “We have over 3,000 public primary schools in the 23 local government areas of the state on the list of the board, and it is herculean to meet the challeges confronting all the schools at the same time”.

He, however, explained that eight schools in Ogbadibo Local Government Area have been slated for reconstructed under the UBE Invention Fund. He said in the interim, the community where the school is located could key into the board’s Self-Help Scheme, which entails that the community embarks on minor works at the premises and then apply to the Board for assistance.

129  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "GIANT OF AFRICA" Nigeria immigration to deport 45 Chinese on: 23-05-2012 01:55 PM

Nigeria immigration officials say they've arrested 45 Chinese nationals working in the a popular northern market and plan to deport them.

Kano state immigration controller Emmanuel Brasca Udo Ifeadi said Tuesday that the Chinese workers were arrested at a textile market in the city. Ifeadi described the workers as "economic scavengers" who were undercutting Nigerian sellers in the market.

Nigeria's own textile factories collapsed in the 1980s over cheap imports, many coming from China. Many Chinese now live in Nigeria, working in a variety of fields as the country partners with government on large-scale projects like rehabilitating the nation's railroad system and roadways.

130  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / NATIONAL DISGRACE: Citizens maltreated in firms owned by foreigners on: 23-05-2012 01:44 PM

The Civil Liberty Organisation of Nigeria has urged the Federal Government to investigate the alleged maltreatment of Nigerians working in firms owned by foreigners.

The Akwa Ibom State Chairman, CLO, Mr. Clifford Thomas, on Monday in Uyo said the call became imperative in view of the rising cases of human rights abuse of Nigerians working in those firms. He alleged that one of the firms known for gross violation of the rights of its Nigerian workers was the China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation. According to a police report obtained from Ibesikpo Police Station on March 28, 2012, one Mr. Emaeyak Edem, who was admitted into St. Luke Hospital, Anua, Uyo, was allegedly assaulted by soldiers attached to CCECC on the order of one of the Chinese bosses identified simply as Mr. Mor.

The doctor’s (Dr. I. Chike) report reads, “Patient presented today, March 28, 2012, with complaints of being beaten up by army men. On examination, deep bruises, inflammation, lacerations, are all over his body.” Thomas said Edem, a tipper driver, went to inquire from the company if he could be contracted to supply it sand and other road building materials. He said, “One Mr. Mor, a Chinese employee of CCECC, had on March 28, 2012, ordered a soldier attached to the security unit of the company in Ibesikpo, to abduct Mr. Emaeyak Edem, a tipper driver from Ikot Oduot.

“They took him to CCECC’s yard in Mbierebe Akpawat, at gunpoint, a distance of eight kilometres. At the yard, the said Mor instigated the armed soldiers to beat Edem mercilessly, forcing him to lie on the hot floor, face-up, and kept flogging him. “The beatings, including using gun butts, continued until the victim passed out by some minutes past 2pm.” He also alleged that the soldiers dispossessed Edem of his N18,000.

Another Chinese, Mr. Fer Goa, a site supervisor with CCECC, was also alleged to have maltreated some Nigerian workers. Thomas said, “A recent incident occurred when he physically molested, assaulted and beat a certain Mr. Okon Matthew, a metal artisan (employed as an iron bender), for reasons he could not explain. He forced Matthew to convey six cape stones at a go, while others were made to carry only two. “On another occasion, he compelled Okon to dig heavily compacted ground for three days, while still visiting inhuman treatment on him.”

Thomas asserted that two unidentified Nigerian workers were stripped naked, beaten and thick oil were poured on them by soldiers attached to the company purportedly acting on the order of the management. A source in the company confided in our correspondent that the Chinese did not have respect for the Nigerians working with them. “I will advise you to come to our office and also monitor where these Chinese are working with our men. They treat us like animals. We need to endure as there is no job anywhere for us to do. And many of us here have families. What can we do,” he asked.

When contacted, the phone of the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Etim Dickson, rang out. Also, he did not respond to the text message sent to him. But the company’s Public Relations Manager, Mr. Solomon Matthew, denied that the Chinese violated the rights of the Nigerian workers. He described the Chinese as well-behaved men who would neither be rude nor inflict injuries on their workers. “We don’t have such incidents in our organisation. Our men are well-behaved. I don’t think the assertion by those who call themselves our employees or whatever is possible,” he said.

The feature below:

It's Thursday, January 5 when we land in Abuja, Nigeria's capital . The ultimatum expires today of Muslims to Christians. We have police and army escort us to have total security. We are going to the Palace of the President and does not have much time. At 6 pm, at best, we should take off. No real danger, reassure us, but better to avoid risks. The streets everything is calm and there is no confusion, and Abuja is beautiful with lots of greenery and imposing houses hidden behind high walls.

It is a city rich-looking and with a totally clean everywhere. We're late for our appointment because of the flight before ours, we must also pass an endless series of checks: first stop for cars, second for us to photograph and inspect the documents, then searched us and deposit all cameras and mobile phones. The situation is not simple at this time in Nigeria and all do their work carefully .

The real disappointment is not being able to get the camera equipment. They understand that it is a problem for us and offer us a book with many photos of the president. We can choose the ones you want, tell us. "No", explain politely, "the pictures we do, we have a style of Vogue and we want to keep." I stay with the book in hand and with all eyes on me, yet I could almost ask themselves what to say or do. "Calm down, let me speak with the president and then we'll see."Among the disappointment of a photographer and cameraman, and the uncertainty about the arrival of the president I feel bad for everyone .

A guard and the chief of protocol we are going to welcome in the Oval Office where he should be held soon after our meeting. I turn and look at all my group a bit 'down. "Smile please, and not a request" .Welcomed, therefore, our smiles and himself with a good-natured expression under a wide-brimmed hat, elegant in a blue tunic and trousers, and a gold chain that slips into the pocket, enters Goodluck Jonathan, President of Nigeria, elected April 16, 2011.

It is followed by the vice president, Mohammed Namadi Sambo (with him in the photo on this page) - who is a Muslim while he was an evangelist. Enter also the oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, a beautiful and elegant woman in traditional dress, princess, with a master's degree at Cambridge, who now commands - first time for a woman - the most important Ministry of Nigeria, the eighth exporter of crude oil per world.

Impressive in its size and authoritarian with a broad-brimmed hat like the President, also comes Edem Duke, the Minister of Culture and Tourism. We sit. I am close to calling Goodluck Alison-Madueke to take the parol a. The Minister explains in detail our design firm and Fashion 4 Development and our intention to dedicate a whole number to Africa "photographing" from a positive point of view, just to give the idea of a country that is not only death and hunger, but it has great potential for growth and job openings towards new initiatives and development.

Advocates both projects and looks at me with kind eyes that do not allow replies. "Stories and convincing", seems to say. And so I begin. "President, thank you for accepting our request to interview her. It is true that we are a newspaper image, but I think there is much to do in this regard in your country , which currently does not appear as rich and secure while having oil and great prospects. " I stop, interrupted by his gaze and his voice informs me that the motto of the country right now is "Rebranding Nigeria". "Really I could not agree more. But I want to revive your textile industries that were once strong and that since there is oil have been neglected, if not forget it. And why sell the patent for the tie dye-Chinese who move so the production in their country? In this way, within a few generations, there will be your knowledge of this tradition. If only we would produce in Nigeria would work for your local and not disappear culture. You have a potential crazy, just look what happened in Brazil and many European and American companies produce in China. Why this is not possible to do it again in Nigeria? ".

She smiles and missing his head. I continue: "All Nigerians rich spend their money abroad because here there are no shops, no hotels from African flavor and chic restaurants, meeting. Why not build a Rodeo Drive" Africa "in Lagos or Abuja with stores and shops with both foreign and Nigerian products? ". I stop, maybe I'm exaggerating. He looks at me and says: "You know our designers: they are good and have great creativity." "Sure", I continue. "Have you for example Duro Olowu who is famous as Louboutin America and Europe, as well as many other designers. Mercedes sponsor many fashion weeks and he could talk to do something here too. In short, ideas are not lacking, need do, and quickly. Nigeria is, in north-central Africa, the country with more opportunity. Why not use them? ".

Now I am silent. The President looks at the ministers, he looks happy and seems to share what I said. Speaks up and agrees to help us to ensure that this does not remain just a good speech. "I agree, I agree and this will be for us the basis on which to start thinking. We have a variety of problems and some very serious, but this will not prevent this country to progress and change its image . And also because he spoken out in no uncertain terms. Is there anything I can do while you're here though for a few hours? ".

I laugh and raised directly, without wasting a second, I reply: "Yes, a photo taken by us in Vogue style. Just a nod and they'll get all the equipment." He looks around with his gentle smile and shy. "How to say no?" She says. While I go out, the Minister of Tourism says: "It's always true That dynamite comes in a small package"

Your excellency, the sky is your start point! You rock, dude!

To their surprise, they found both men wearing cocaine-filled pampers.

To make a long story short, the men pleaded for forgiveness attributing poverty of all kinds to their actions.

They confessed this is their very first time and vow to never engage in such again.

However their plea made no impact as they were detained and would be charged later, says the NDLEA spokes person.
