Peter Okoye in a new interview with Encomium has denied the stories that his family members were not in support of his marriage to wife Lola. Or that that was the reason his elder brother Jude didn't attend his wedding.

A Federal High Court in Abuja today sentenced Talal Ahmad Roda (pictured above), one of the three Lebanese men arrested in May 2013 in connection with illegal possessions of weapon, to life imprisonment. Mr Roda was arrested after a large cache of arms was found in a bunker during a raid on his residence. He was found guilty of all 5 counts of illegal possession of weapons and conspiracy.

Following the arrest of Dr. Mohammed Nazeef Yusuf, a lecturer at Kogi State University, Ayingba by the Department of State Service, DSS over alleged involvement with the Boko Haram sect, the university authority has dissociated the institution from the activities of the lecturer and the alleged plan to carry out terrorists attacks in the state. photo Also, the Kogi State University Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities declared that the suspect was never an active member of the union. ASUU Chairman in the university, Dr. Sylvester Ukwuteno said contrary to report from the other suspects that Dr Yusuf was a strong member of the organization, the suspect has never been an active member of ASUU. According to him, “the only link between him (Dr. Nazeef Yusuf) and the association was because ASUU’s due is deducted at source from lecturers’ salaries. And he, like everyone else has his dues deducted to make him an automatic member. But he’s not a strong member as it has been widely claimed. I cannot remember the last time he attended any of our meetings”. Also, the institution in a statement signed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Hassan Isah admitted that though the suspect, Dr. Mohammed Nazeef Yusuf who was recently paraded by Security agent is a lecturer in the institution the governing council and the management of the school do not know anything about him beyond his duty as a lecturer “The Governing council and the management therefore condemned and dissociated themselves from all criminality and terrorism in whatever shape or form, where ever and whenever it exist.” The VC noted that it became imperative to respond to the situation as the alleged involvement of the lecturer has elicited a lot of enquiries from friends, well- wishers, students, stakeholders and sister institutions. “In view of the negative interpretation and implication for our hard-earned reputation, and the damaging impression on unsuspected members of the public, the institution dissociates itself from all criminal and criminal activities including those of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.” He assured that security has been beefed up in the school with enough surveillance to curtail any attack from gunmen “In the meantime, the governing council and management of the institution have strengthened security and increase surveillance on campus with the view to stamp out all criminals and criminalities, including Boko Haram activities. Shimizu Corporation, a Japanese architecture and engineering firm, has a plan to effectively turn the moon into a giant solar power plant. It proposes building a massive collection of solar panels (a "Luna Ring") 6,800 miles long by 12 miles wide on the moon's surface. That's certainly a heavy-duty construction job for human beings, so Shimizu plans to get the work done with robots, only involving humans in supervisory roles. Once complete, this hypothetical plant could continuously send energy to "receiving stations" around the globe by way of lasers and microwave transmission. This idea gets around two major hurdles for solar power, as there is no weather or darkness to curb electricity production on the moon. If operating in ship-shape, Shimizu says it could continuously send 13,000 terawatts of power back to Earth. By comparison, it took the United States all of 2011 to generate 4,100 terawatts of power. It's big thinking that we're skeptical will ever see fruition, but we like where Shimizu's coming from. A 17-year-old girl, who has been accused by her sister-in-law of stealing N3,000 from her handbag, died in Kubwa, FCT, on November 26, 2013, Tuesday, after taking substances suspected to be poison.
The girl was allegedly beaten and had her hair shaved with bottle before being stripped unclad by her sister-in-law at NEPA Road in Kubwa. A police source at Kubwa said the sister-in-law blamed the teenager in taking her money, shaved off the girl’s hair with broken bottles and stripped her unclad on the street after torturing her. “The woman was furious because she accused the deceased of always pilfering from her handbag every day and out of anger, she beat up the deceased, scrapped her head with broken bottles and stripped her unclad publicly,” the source said. According to eyewitnesses, the teenage girl, who could not bear the disgrace, ran into the kitchen and drank what they called rat killer as a way of proving her innocence. The girl was said to have been taken to Kubwa General Hospital where she was confirmed dead. Tony Olofu, the Assistant Commissioner of the Kubwa Police Area Commander, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect is in police custody at Kubwa where she is being interrogated. After the Federal Government issued this morning the directive ordering all Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities to re-open their universities for academic activities, the management of the University of Abuja has directed its students to resume academic activities on Sunday, the 1st of December. The statement was this morning signed by the University registrar. Students in South Africa were outraged by a question they faced at the national school-leavers’ drama exam which asked students to direct a rape scene. They were asked to describe how they would get an actor to maximize the horror of the rape of a baby, using a broomstick and loaf of bread as props.
According to the reports, anti-rape activists and the author of the play, Lara Newton, have said the question was“insensitive”. The official statistics says that South Africa has one of the highest rates of segxwal violence in the world.
Newton’s award-winning play Baby Tshepang is based on the actual rape of a 9-month old by her mother’s boyfriend.
However, South Africa’s Education Department has defended the question’s inclusion in the paper. They commented the situation,
“Nowhere is it expected of the candidate to have to literally describe the actual act of molesting a nine-month-old baby.”
According to the statement, the question is aimed at assessing the pupils’ concept of using metaphor as a theatrical technique.
However, it is evident, some students were really disturbed by the question. One of them said,
“Everyone was in shock that we were asked such a question. It was so gruesome and we were not sure how to answer it,” South Africa’ Times newspaper quotes a Durban pupil as saying.
It was reported that many students interviewed were too embarrassed to repeat what they had written in their answers.
The Federal Government has issued a one week ultimatum to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to call off the ongoing strike.
The union embarked on the action on July 1, 2013 over government’s refusal to implement the 2009 agreement both parties reached.

The trial of the sons of Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, Aminu and Mustapha, accused for money laundering, will proceed despite the governor’s refusal to defect from the People’s Democratic Party to the opposition All Progressives Party. A senior official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed it in the night of November 27, 2013, Wednesday. The EFCC stated once again that the arrest and investigation of the governor’s children over funds amounting to N10 billion had no political undertone. The operative said the agency did not want to be seen as playing politics with a serious issue of money laundering, for which the suspects had already made some statements that would lead to prosecution at the appropriate time. “This is a pure case of money laundering and does not have anything to do with the governor’s position on PDP or APC and we do not want any political meaning to be given to the matter, which is being investigated,” the EFCC official said. The academic war between Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State and its striking lecturers has deepened following a report that the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Femi Mimiko has commenced recruitment of new lecturers to replace the striking lecturers, having refused to pull out of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) strike.
It was gathered by the jorunalists that Prof. Mimiko is determined to re-open the university on December 2, after he had ordered the students to resume this Monday for the commencement of the second term semester programme.
But the Chairman of ASUU in the institution, Dr. Busuyi Mekusi has described the move by the management as illegal.
A bizarre fire, which burst out in one of the churches of Ocean City, Maryland, Washington area, USA. The tragedy left 2 people dead, including the church’s longtime pastor, and a woman critically injured. The fire started on Tuesday when a man — his clothes and body on fire — entered St. Paul’s by the Sea church in a section where services are provided to the area’s needy.
According to a witness, somebody tried to pull the man out and then the building caught fire from there.
Fire and police officials said, the blaze, possibly helped by the use of an accelerant, spread quickly.
A 56-years-old man, who caused the fire, was identified as John Raymond Sterner. Sterner was found dead inside the building by firefighters.
The church pastor, the Rev. David Dingwall, was found unconscious on the second floor of the church amid “heavy smoke and heat conditions,” authorities said. Unfortunately, he later died at a hospital.
One woman was critically injured, police said.
It’s not yet clear how Sterner came to be on fire.
The Rev. Canon Heather Cook of the Episcopal Diocese of Easton told The Baltimore Sun that a church parishioner and volunteer at the food bank that operates out of the church rectory were preparing to open when the man came in, screaming for help. “I’m heartbroken. I’m sick,” church organist Shirley Hailey told WJLA.
