181  Forum / The Buzz Central / No Accident Can Stop My Love For Power Bikes - YAW on: 29-03-2014 01:22 PM

Even after having an accident on Third Mainland Bridge that left a scar on his hand, famous OAP, YAW has said he is willing to get another bike, and the accident will not in any way stop him from enjoying his bike. He says before Yeni Kuti’s ex-husband died, he showed him his power bike and he told him, he will be getting a similar one. He spoke to a Punch reporter, where he expressed his love for bikes. Enjoy!

I overheard you telling your friend that you would still get another power bike after you had an accident with the last one you had. Why this craze for power bikes?

I love them. I have a scar on my hand which I got when I was involved in an accident with my power bike on the Third Mainland Bridge. I was shocked when I heard of the death of Yeni Kuti’s ex-husband. I learnt he had an accident with his power bike.  He showed me the bike before his death, I have forgotten the brand but it runs very fast. When he showed me, I told him that I would soon buy the same type of bike; it was a new bike. It happens but one has to be very careful when riding a power bike. I prefer cruisers to speed bikes. Speed bikes are too fast and Nigerian roads don’t encourage the speed they are built for and also, people do not respect bikers on the road. I just prefer cruiser bikes.

183  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / El-Rufai Is A Small Fry - Oritsejafor Claims on: 29-03-2014 12:54 PM
CAN President, Pastor Oritsejafor has dropped a bombshell against former minister, El-Rufai who said Pastor Oritsejafor’s controversial jet was from the President and not his church followers like he wants Nigerians to believe. Speaking with a Punch reporter, Oritsejafor said he is glad he didn’t reply but glad some Nigerians did. Insisting El-Rufai is a small fry. The reporter further went forward and asked if he will be willing to sue the former minister, and once again, the CAN president said, El-Rufai is too small for him to be bordered to do that. But if any Nigerian wants to sue him, they are free to do so. His words after the cut.

Your children in the ministry bought aircraft for you recently, but Mallam Nasir el-Rufai claimed it was a gift from the President. How do you feel about this?

I am glad that there are people who challenged him. I would only be dignifying him if a person at my level starts exchanging words with a small person like el-Rufai. He is too small. I will not dignify him with a response. People responded. They told him that since he knew who gave the gift, he should provide the proof, which he hasn’t done till today. Obviously, he didn’t have any proof. That is the problem with Nigeria. We continue to celebrate people like el-Rufai. He is too small for me.

Are you considering legal actions against him?

If I did that, I would be giving him publicity. el-Rufai is too small for that. I shouldn’t have anything to do with him. If there are other Nigerians who will want to take him to court, they are free, but not for me. Going to court with who? el-Rufai? el-Rufai is too small. I won’t waste my time on him.

184  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Frustrated Ogboni Cult Member Blows Open Their Secret in New Confession on: 29-03-2014 12:05 PM
Truly sounds like a story out of Nollywood, but according to DailySun, 54 year old frustrated former Ogboni member, Chris Obi, in a new interview with them is crying out that after being a member of the cult for 15 years, a cult he joined cos they promised to make him wealthy overnight, he has nothing to show for it. Then when he finally made up his mind to leave, which he eventually did, the cult people came for his life.

Obi who is based in Onitsha, Anambra State is bitter that he lost 15 of his early years in search of wealth where nothing is given free. Not ready to keep sealed lips, Obi, who was once a machine operator with a firm in Onitsha before turning to merchandise, told Saturday Sun his story:
“I joined Ogboni because I wanted to be very rich. I was deceived by friends. But I was in it for 15 years without getting any riches. I was only dining with the high and mighty. They were only feeding me. Whenever we go for meetings, which we call club meetings, I used to eat sumptuous meals and drink so much. That would make me happy but once I come back home, I became sad because I was still poor and couldn’t feed my family.
Before I was accepted to join the society, I was registered. I even paid a registration fee. It was
about N75,000 that I paid before they gave me a form to fill. I was asked to supply some personal information in the form. Such information included the names of my first born, my wife, my relatives and my age, among others.
We were also asked to pay for certain things such as gadgets, they cost N30,000 but I paid only N20,000. I got the money from my contribution in the firm I was working before I joined the society. After filling the form, they gave a date for my initiation into the society."
While giving account of his initiation into the cult, Obi said he was given a blood-like liquid in a calabash to drink as a mark that he would keep the secrets of the society, which he is now determined to break and damn the consequence.
“At the initiation venue, they provided a coffin, covered with a black cloth. I was also given a ring and an handkerchief among other things I can’t mention here. There were traditional priests who presided over the initiation. I remember the priests shouted some incantations which I later understood were warnings for me that what I was joining wasn’t a child’s play.
After that, they put the ring into my hand and said that it was a covenant that demands that I keep sealed lips about the activities of the society. I was also given some liquid in a calabash to drink; the liquid looked like red wine, but it was very red. I cannot really say how it tasted.  We were many that were initiated that day and we all drank the red liquid.
When we had taken the drink, we were congratulated and welcomed to the society with huge promises that we would get all the riches and the powers that we desired. I went home that day feeling on top of the world. I was excited that I have found a smart way to be come very rich”, he stated.
To reassure himself that he was on the right path, Obi would use some of the magical powers given him through rings and handkerchief. He explained:
“The ring that I was given could be described as both magical and fetish. I was told that I could just disappear in the face of danger if I wore it. But it didn’t make me to disappear at any time. Actually, I never got myself into trouble with anyone because all I wanted was to be very rich. So, I did my best to stay out of trouble.
The handkerchief did remarkable things for me. With it I hypnotized people to do my bidding. For instance, I was able to pay far less than what I bought from sellers whenever I went to the market to buy things. I could buy things and ensure my bags are full with foodstuffs and other things with just N1,000 and I even get some balance from the sellers. The handkerchief enables me to cheat sellers by getting them hypnotized.”
Not satisfied with those little benefits from the magical powers given him, frustration began to set in when he could not understand what he would do to get the real wealth he needed. According to him:
“there was no time I was categorically told how to make wealth or get riches but each time I asked them when it would happen, they would tell me that I should just continue to attend the meetings and make effort to get deeper and know more about the society. They said that in due course I would find out how to get riches.  So, I carried on with them, with the hope that one day, they would reveal to me how to become rich indeed.”
The beginning of the end,  however, began when, on further inquiry on how to get the desired wealth, he was told that he had to sacrifice his first son. In his narration, he said:
“Something happened about six years ago which made me have a second thought about the society and desired to take a walk from them.

I ran into a member of the society with whom I had been initiated the same time. That means we were at the same level in the society. I knew the man to be as wretched as a church rat before our initiation. But when I met him in 2008, he had become stupendously rich. He rode a very expensive car and I envied him.
He took me to a big restaurant in Onitsha metropolis and there he bought me sumptuous meal and drinks worth thousands of naira. When we got talking, he told me about how rich he had become. He said that he had built a business empire for himself and dealt with white men in Hong Kong. The man took me to one of his firms where he prints many fake documents for several business transactions. He said he wouldn’t get caught because of his connections with the society.
When I asked him how he struck it rich, that was when he dropped the bombshell, saying that he had to sacrifice his first son. He said that thereafter, he continued to kill his other unborn male children from his wife. He said that whenever his wife was pregnant and was about to give birth, he would find out the sex of the baby and if it turns out to be a male, he would use his powers to kill the baby before it would be delivered.”
The confession of his colleague dropped the scale from his eyes and then it dawned on him that he needed to take a decision to proceed and do likewise or take a walk. He eventually chose the latter. According to Obi:
“I was shocked at what he said. He added that he had built houses both at Onitsha and his village. His confession opened my eyes to what I was supposed to do to get riches. It became crystal clear to me that the society expects me to also sacrifice my first son to become rich and I shuddered at the thought of it. I love my family so much. They are all I have in the world.

In fact, I wanted to get rich quick so as to give my family the best in life but it was the same family that was being demanded as sacrifice for the riches. Suddenly, I began to realize that I was foolish to have accepted to join the cult for riches. I regretted heeding the advice from my friends who lured me into it. My friends, particularly the one who was the general secretary of the society, had deceived me with great promises of wealth, they had even told me that they saw my father’s name in the Ogboni membership list when they were checking the names of past late members. But the scales fell off my eyes with what I discovered from my colleague who sacrificed his children.”
From that point, Chris chose to draw the battle line with a group he had served for 15 years.
“Suddenly, I began to hate the society. I couldn’t make myself to attend the meetings again and I began to burn the fetish items they gave me. After a few days that they didn’t see me at the meetings, they sent that my rich friend to me.
He came to ask why I was being absent at meetings and I told him that if the only way for me to get riches is to sacrifice my family, I was opting out. He looked angry when I told him that and warned me against the consequences of quitting the society. A series of persuasions and threats followed for sometime so as to make me change my mind but I stood my ground and drew closer to God and was praying fervently.
After a while, I thought they would let me be. But they told me through their delegation that they wanted to leave me because I had not got riches through them. They added that my soul would have been demanded by them if I had got riches before quitting. That means they would have killed me and captured my soul as punishment.”
He said at the point he was almost relaxing it was all over, the cult struck.
“I thought they had gone out of my life forever when they said this, little did I know that they were actually planning to get rid of me gradually. Later that year, 2008, I had a minor accident and it got my legs swollen. And the legs continued to swell the more.

It defied all kinds of treatment I sought for it. In fact, I attended many churches for a miracle of healing. I paid tithes, huge offerings and even bought things for the churches but nothing happened until last year January when I attended the crusade of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries at Mgbidi where I eventually got my deliverance from their attack”, Obi stated with a sigh of relief.

186  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Another PDP stalwart stabbed to death on: 29-03-2014 11:47 AM

Another orgy of violence rear its head in Osun state yesterday as a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Ilesa East Local Government Area of the state, Mr Alaba Agunmo was allegedly stabbed to death by suspected thugs who reportedly invaded his residence at Irojo area of Ilesa.
This is coming barely two weeks after a stalwart of the PDP in Ife East Local Government Area, Pa Taiwo Ogundele was killed during the last voters’ registration exercise in the state.
The thugs according to sources lured Agunmo to the back of his residence where they allegedly stabbed him on the neck till he gave up the ghost.
The state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa in a statement however called on the Police to investigate the murder of Agunmo, who he described as a committed member of the PDP in the state.
Olaoluwa who described the killing of Agunmo as barbaric, said the party would prosecute the killing of all its members in the last three and half years of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration in the state.
He urged the Police to ensure thorough investigation of the murder case, just as he called on relevant agencies of government to protect members of the PDP in the state from untimely death.
He also condemned the alleged victimization of members of the PDP in the state in the recent time, alleging that the ruling All Progressives Congress APC members are frustrating members of the PDP because of the forthcoming election.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the state Police command, Mrs Folashade Odoro confirmed the development, but added that it would be wrong to jump into hasty conclusion that it was a political killing.
According to her, an argument ensued between the deceased and another person at a beer palour when the victim was allegedly stabbed but gave up the ghost at the hospital where he was rushed to.

Mr. Ebere Wabara, the Sun associate editor and special assistant, Media to Dr. Uzor Orji Kalu was yesterday abducted by policemen from the Abia State Command.
The policemen stormed Wabara's Surulere, Lagos residence between 6.30 and 7a.m in the presence of his wife and underaged children and whisked him away.

Mr. Ebere Wabara
He was informed by the invading police that some unnamed persons had written a petition against him in Abia State and was asked to follow them to the state, where he would be charged with sedition.
Wabara was first taken to Sholoki Police Station in Aguda, Surulere, and later to Oyingbo police station, also in Lagos.

189  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Muslim cleric caught slitting girl’s throat in Oyo on: 29-03-2014 11:19 AM
A 37-year-old muslim cleric, Isah Salaudeen was caught on Thursday night trying to slaughter a young girl, Chiwendu Nkwocha who had gone to him for spiritual help in Ibadan.
According to report, the victim, Nkwocha was brought to Salaudeen by her boyfriend, Bola, in January this year so that he would help in using prayers and other means to exorcise some spirits troubling her and she had been undergoing this ‘spiritual cleansing’ by being given herbs, concoctions and ‘holy water’ to cure her.

Isah Salaudeen
On that fateful day, Salaudeen had asked the victim to lie down while he covered her face with a cloth. She suddenly felt a sharp pain on her throat and before she knew what was happening, the cleric reportedly attempted to hack her with a cutlass to make his work faster when it seemed the knife was not achieving the aim intended. She then screamed, jumped up from where she was lying and ran out for help.
The incident was said to have been reported by one Aafa Taiye Agulofi and Ademola Agoro who resides in the same area with the suspect.
Salaudeen when apprehended, denied trying to deliberately kill the lady, saying he did not know what came over him. He said he believed he was manipulated by the spirits troubling Nkwocha to commit the criminal act and that he came to his senses later on.
“I am a Muslim cleric and will never do rituals. Even I have self-discipline so much that I don’t have girlfriend or go to prostitutes since my wife and I divorced. If I feel like having sex, I just masturbate until I (ejaculate). Divine (Nkwocha) used to play hard and was also staying with me; that was why I had sex with her,” Salaudeen said.
Salaudeen, is currently being held at the Iyaganku Division of Oyo State Police Command while Nkwocha is said to be receiving treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The spokesperson for the Oyo State police command, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigations.

190  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / See How Fraudsters now Rob An ATM Machine Through Simple Text Messages on: 29-03-2014 10:26 AM
It been revealed that a particular brand of ATM machines can be hacked and robbed with ease without even touching or being close to the device.

The details ain't as simple as it sounds but the ATM are actually Windows PCs need to be running on XP then it has to be infected with a trojan virus called Ploutus.

The fraudsters then have to access the computer (ATM) innards and install their malware and hook it up to a mobile phone via a USB port and then they have a full control of the machine

Then all they are now required to do is to send a message to the planted ATM phone, it then translates the text into a network packet and sends it to the ATM. Ploutus then transforms the packets into command-line instructions.

Symantec’s Daniel Regalado said: “It may seem incredible, but this technique is being used in a number of places across the world at this time,”

The setup could last for a very long time if not caught because the phone is plugged in and is constantly recharging and never runs out of power.

Ploutus apparently affects only a single brand of ATM, but Symantec has not released the brand name. It did note that the Trojan, originally written in Spanish, now has an English-language variant, suggesting that the criminals behind it might hope to expand their operation.

What is indisputable is that, as Regalado wrote, “cybercriminals are targeting ATMs with increasingly sophisticated techniques.” But that would be true no matter which operating system an ATM runs.

191  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Two British citizens, Nigerians arrested For Crude Oil Theft And Bribery on: 29-03-2014 10:25 AM
The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta on March 28, 2014, Friday, announced the arrest of members of a syndicate specializing in crude oil theft. The members of the group, which included two Britons, have been arrested shortly after offering a bribe to the officials.

The suspects, who brought $66,500 (N10.6 million) to the JTF as the first half of the total N20m bribe, were paraded at the JTF Headquarters in Yenagoa on Friday.
The cash exhibit was also displayed before journalists.

JTF command explained that a representative of the syndicate approached the JTF with an approval letter from Naval Headquarters for a vessel, NNS Delta, to evacuate petroleum products.

Based on the letter, the JTF said it granted the approval and directed its troops to monitor the activities of the firm in the water ways.

The oil theft syndicate unfolded a plan to hack into Shell Petroleum Development Company’s (SPDC) pipeline in Chamoni creek near Warri to siphon crude.

“The oil theft syndicate offered the Operation Officer of JTF’s 3 Battalion an initial payment of 5,000 for ‘recharge card’ and $1,500 to fuel the gunboat that will escort the stolen crude.

“The two British Nationals subsequently requested a meeting with the Brigade Commander of 4 Brigade where the suspects expressed their desire to connect a hose to SPDC pipeline along the Chanomi creek in Delta state to illegally siphon crude oil into barges.

“The foreign nationals promised to bribe the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Fidelis Azinta with N20 million and to take care of officers and soldiers along the Chanomi creek.

“On March 21, 2014, one of the suspects brought $60,000 (N10.2 million) as part payment for the N20 million pledge, the suspects were immediately arrested for attempting to bribe the Brigade Commander for economic sabotage,” the JTF spokesperson revealed.

The JTF Commander said the two British suspects, and 12 technicians they hired to drill into the pipeline and connect the hoses to steal crude, were arrested and their tools seized. The suspects would be handed over to the Department of State Security Service for prosecution. It would be noted that Nigeria loses tens of thousands of barrels of crude to oil thieves daily.

192  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I bless babies before selling them – ‘Baby factory’ operator on: 29-03-2014 10:15 AM
Thirty nine-year-old Angela Chidozie, who was arrested last week Friday by men of the Ogun State Police Command at a house she allegedly used as a ‘baby factory’ in Akute area of the state, is currently cooling off at the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the command. She was arrested with eight young girls who are in different stages of pregnancy. The fair-complexioned lady told Saturday PUNCH that money was not the aim of operating the business. Chidozie insisted that she was sure none of her patrons bought the babies for ritual purposes. Asked how she was sure of that, she said, “I study those who come to buy babies from me. When I am sure that they actually want to buy because they are looking for the fruits of the womb, I sell the babies to them. “It is my job now. I know how to test the women to see if they actually cannot have children. When I see people who come to me for children, I know if they want the babies for ritual purposes or not. I ensure the women come with their husbands.  I don’t sell children to them if they don’t come with their spouses. “It is not about the money. My concern is just to help the young girls and to help those who want children. This is why I pray on the babies before I hand them over to the buyers. I make sure the babies are okay.” Saturday PUNCH asked how she ensured that the babies were okay as she claimed after she had sold them off, Chidozie said, “I just know. Some buyers come back to thank me and even buy cartons of soft drinks for me in appreciation.” Chidozie said she gave the girls in her ‘baby factory’ ante-natal care in the house where she kept them. She explained that she had a dedicated nurse who took care of the pregnant girls. “One day, I met a woman who wore a nurse uniform, I approached her and asked if she could treat my sister. She followed me home and I introduced her to the girls. She later agreed to come and treat them anytime necessary. “She gave the girls injection anytime they needed treatment. She also supplied their medicines. “When the girls were due, the nurse delivered them of the babies in my house but when she was not around and a girl was in labour, I would deliver the girl of the baby myself.  I can do it because I am a herbal doctor; so I know how to deliver women of babies. I have only personally delivered three girls of their babies.” Chidozie insisted that she did not force any of the girls into the business. She said they came to her because they did not want their babies. She claimed she screened the girls before accepting them, adding that she rejected anyone that did not provide satisfactory answers to her questions. “I asked them where their parents were and who impregnated them. If the girls didn’t give me any good response, I sent them back to where they came from. Even last week I still sent three of them away.” Asked if she actually asked any of the eight girls who impregnated them, Chidozie struck a thoughtful pose and said, “I can’t remember.” “But in the past, I have called the boyfriends of pregnant girls in my custody to confirm that they want their babies sold,” she said. Chidozie became evasive when asked the highest amount she had ever sold a baby. “I don’t collect much; you know fingers are not equal. Some come to my house begging that they don’t have much. I collect N200,000 from some, even N150,000 from some others. I don’t really know where those who approach me for babies come from.” Saturday PUNCH asked why she did not direct the girls to proper orphanages if she was not doing it for the money, she said “I don’t know why they prefer me.” She had told the police upon her arrest that she gave the pregnant girls between N70,000 and N80,000 after their babies were sold off at the rate of N300,000. Chidozie said her husband knew she was involved in the business in the past but had warned her to stop the business. The eight girls rescued from Chidozie’s ‘baby factory’ are also in the custody of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit. Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the AHTCLU had started getting in touch with the families of the girls. He said, “This is not a careless police command. The girls will help us in the investigation and prosecution of this case. Efforts are ongoing to link the girls with their families. At the moment, we have been able to contact three of the families. “Investigation has been widened in this case to include potential baby buyers and past buyers who have patronised the woman (Chidozie).” He said the baby factory was discovered as a result of the persistence of a resident of the area who gave a tip-off on the activities in the house. The police spokesperson urged the public to give information to the police without fear. He said, “The man who gave the tip-off actually reported twice. The first time, the police went there and saw nothing. The man reported again and it was discovered that the woman (Chidozie) hid the girls in the wardrobe. One of them actually fainted as a result of that and had to be taken to the hospital. “We are living in the past. That is why people think that when they give information to the police, it may bounce back on them. “But members of the public should know who to give information to. They should Approach an officer who heads a formation on any information because such officers can distinguish between rumours and intelligence.”

193  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Despite being PDP candidate, you must face trial for N416 million fraud on: 29-03-2014 10:13 AM

A Federal High Court in Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Thursday refused the request by the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, to delay his trial to enable him concentrate in prosecuting his gubernatorial ambition. Mr. Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, is standing trial for allegedly misappropriating state funds to the tune of N416 million during his tenure between 2003 and 2006. However, last Saturday, he emerged the flag bearer of the PDP for the June 21 governorship election in the state. At the resumed hearing on the fraud suit, the counsel to the former governor, Raji Ahmed, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, prayed the court to adjourn the matter till the first week in July to allow his client concentrate on his electoral campaign as the candidate of the PDP in the governorship election in Ekiti. He argued that the accused must be presumed innocent until proven guilty. The request was, however, turned down by Justice Adamu Hobon, after an objection by Rotimi Jacobs, also a SAN and counsel to EFCC, who said that an accelerated hearing of the matter would help Mr. Fayose. “It would be in the interest of the accused person, so that his people can make up their mind about him and his name cleared before the election,” Mr. Jacobs said. Mr. Hobon, thereafter, adjourned the matter till May 6, 2014 for continuation of trial. Before the matter was adjourned, the court admitted eight documents tendered as exhibits by the prosecution. The documents admitted included Certificate of Identification of Biological Concept Nigeria Limited; Account Statement of Biological Concept Nigeria Limited; Account Opening document of Biological Concept Limited; Account Statement of Avians Specialties Nigeria Limited and Account Opening document of Avians Specialties- all with Skye Bank Plc. Others are Certificate of Account of People’s Democratic Party, Ekiti State, at Keystone Bank; the Account Opening form of the party; and its Statement of Account. Five of the documents involving Skye Bank were presented before the court by a prosecution witness, Emmanuel Alejo, who was led in evidence by Mr. Jacobs. The EFCC counsel urged the court to admit the documents as exhibits. He said the witness could not produce the original of the documents owing to short notice. The witness had earlier told the court that he was instructed to prepare the documents for witnessing, two days before he appeared in court. According to him, “for me to produce the original of the documents, the management of the bank will have to sit, deliberate and agree before the documents can be released and this will not meet the time the court is supposed to sit.” This claim was, however, opposed by Mr. Ahmed, on the grounds that the reason offered by the witness was not tenable in law. According to the accused person’s lawyer, even with the short time frame, the management of the bank should have released the original of the documents. In his ruling, Mr. Hobon said that, “looking through the Evidence Act 83(2), 84, 89(f) (h) all read together, no doubt, these documents passed admissibility test and such can be admitted as evidence”. He subsequently admitted the documents as exhibits N1-N5. The court also admitted three documents presented by another prosecution witness, Taiwo Sanusi, head of Compliance, Monitoring and Reporting at Keystone Bank. The three documents were generated from an account of the PDP, Ekiti State. Mr. Jacobs prayed the court to admit them as exhibits; and with no objection by Mr. Ahmed, Mr. Hobon admitted them as exhibits P1, P2 and P3 respectively. 194  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / NDLEA arrest man with heroin hidden in anus at airport` on: 29-03-2014 10:11 AM

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday arrested a 34 years old man  with 120 grammes of heroin hidden in his anus at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, (MMIA) Lagos. The suspect, Mr. Ulelu Ugwumba Michael was apprehended during the screening of passengers on Qatar airline flight on his way from Pakistan. Speaking on the arrest, NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar said that the suspect was arrested with the drug through the aid of a scanning machine used by officers of the anti-narcotics agency. Mr. Umar further noted that   the suspect inserted two wraps of brownish powdery substance found to be heroin into his anus on his way from Pakistan. According to the Commander, “the suspect, Ulelu Ugwumba Michael tested positive for drug possession on his way from Pakistan. When placed under close observation, he excreted two wraps of substances that tested positive for heroin with a weight of 120 grammes. The case is under investigation”. Meanwhile, Chairman of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade foreclosed any act of leniency for the suspect. “The suspect will be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others. Those who seek criminal ways of making money must be prepared to face the legal consequences” Giade stated. Narrating his ordeal, the suspect said that he assumed the drug would not be detected since it was just two wraps. He said“I am a textile dealer in Aba, Abia State. I travelled to Pakistan to buy goods. My business has suffered some downturn in the past two years. The decision to smuggle the drug was to enable me increase my capital. Since it was just two wraps weighing 120 grammes, I was so confident that it will be easy for me to pass through security checks undetected. I am sad over my arrest and pray to God for my freedom. This is my first time and I promise not to smuggle drugs again” Ulelu is single and hails from Abia State. He claimed to have attended Abala Primary School in Obingwa but could not complete his primary education because he lost his parents.

195  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Anxiety Grows over Fate of Okada Rider who Exposed Ibadan Horror on: 29-03-2014 09:47 AM
The whereabouts of a commercial motorcyclist popularly called Okada rider, who blew the lid on the evil at the Ibadan forest of horror is still unknown. His name is Kazeem and it was he who sent distress text messages to friends and colleagues while being held captive at the forest. Unfortunately, he was not among the victims rescued by people and minions of law at the forest.

And seven days after the Saturday’s discovery of the evil forest, curious residents and colleagues of Kazeem said they would not give up until their missing colleague is rescued from the jaws of kidnappers. As at Tuesday, his colleagues claimed they still received test messages from him asking them to rescue him from the kidnappers’ den.  Already, a search party has been launched for the Okada rider by his colleagues and relatives, who many believe could still be alive, in the forest with nine others.

A source, who asked not to be named, told reporters:

“Kazeem is a commercial motorcyclist and was lured by one of the kidnappers to the site. Unknown to his captors, he had hidden a cell phone which he used to send distress text messages to people. He used his phone to contact some of his colleagues and gave them the description to the site of horror. That was how we came to this forest to search for him. We have searched everywhere but could not find him. We have also called his phone severally after but we could no longer reach him. He might have been killed in the forest.’’

One of the Okada operators, who is also a member of the search team, Mr. Babayemi Farinu, described his kidnapped colleague as gentle and focused. Another Okada operator, Dapo Abbey, who spoke with The Nation yesterday, said:

“We all came here to show solidarity and to fight agents of darkness. It is not because we know him, he is not under our unit, but he is our colleague because he is an Okada operator. His name is Kazeem and he is from Olomi area. From what we gathered from people who know him, he is such a gentle and diligent person. He was said to have brought two passengers here last Saturday but ended up being kidnapped. He has been sending distress calls since Saturday, and this afternoon, we learned that he sent text messages to people. What that means is that he is still being held somewhere in this forest with others. That is why we appealed to policemen to help us to search for him.”

196  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / My Pastor Insulted Me for Failing To Link Him With Gov Fashola - Madam Fashola on: 29-03-2014 09:44 AM
Madam (Prof) Winifred Fashola is a unique person. She got her first degree at the age of 45, Master's degree when she was 49 and I finished her PhD at 62. Can you beat that? She shared part of her story with Punch and here are few interesting excerpts, plus her funny encounter with the pastor of her new church:

You attended the university at an older age, how did you feel seeing younger ones in your class?
I wasn’t too old but I was above their age group. But I made up my mind to be young at heart. I was in my 40s and I still dressed like them. I got my first degree when I was 45, my Master’s degree when I was 49 and my Master of Philosophy degree was when I was around 52. I was a research fellow. Then, I finished my PhD at 62. People are usually surprised when they hear about all these achievements, but it started somewhere, with strong determination.

Your late husband was an uncle to the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, what kind of relationship do you have with him?
The governor is a very humble man. We relate well whenever we see, especially at family functions. The wife is the same; very polite, decent and humble. I don’t go to him to look for favours but if I meet him for anything, I know he would attend to me, but then, at my age, what else do I need? I am a happy woman...

With the level of relationship you have with him, one would have expected to meet you living at one of the highbrow areas. Why are you living here?

I like it here. It’s central and I can access anywhere I want to go from here. This area is also devoid of the usual pressure, noise and traffic in those places you call highbrow areas. Here, we don’t have blood pressure. I even pity my children who live in those areas because of the traffic congestion they experience from time to time.
Based on your relationship with the governor, do people come to you for favours?
A lot. People come to me because of that. But politely I tell them there is not much I can do. I was embarrassed sometimes ago. It was my first time in a church and I was given a form to fill. After the service, some members quickly accosted me, because of the name on the form and later in the day; towards evening, they came to my house and prayed for me, which was a good thing. Then they brought out a letter that I should help them give to the governor. I told them that it wouldn’t be possible for me to see him or deliver the letter. I only see him at family functions and it will be unfair to him if I meet him at a function and all I will do is to hand him a letter for assistance. So, as my widow’s mite, I put N5,000 in an envelope and gave to the church. The following day, the Pastor came to my house and said the church was shocked and surprised that someone like me could behave like that. So, these are some of the things I see. If there is a way I could help people in my own capacity, I do, not because of my relationship with the governor.

197  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Private Jet Fraud: We Won’t Probe Alison Madueke – Presidency on: 29-03-2014 09:40 AM
In Nigeria today, you can spend as much money as you like if you are close to the President. How sad!

The Presidency said that it will not probe the allegations of misappropriation of public funds levelled against the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is an in-law President Goodluck Jonathan.

The president's aide on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, said the Government would not set up a probe panel to look into the minister financial reckless because the House of Reps is currently probing her.
“The Federal Government cannot set up a probe panel just on things that have not been substantiated as such. The information I have is that the House of Representatives is looking into the matter and they want to invite the honourable minister. Definitely, the right thing is to wait for the outcome of such an interaction before anybody can decide to do anything.”
But when Stella Oduah's BMW scandal broke, the same Presidency set up a three-man committee to probe her on the armoured car fraud while National Assembly was investigating her. So, what is now different?

You may wish to know that Alison-Madueke lavished as much as N10bn on a chartered Challenger aircraft in two years, in a country where the minimum wage is just N18,000 and government revenue is declining.

Anyway, sources say members of the House of Reps committee that should probe the ministers are under some form of pressure from above because she is President Jonathan's in-law. And this is why even the probe by House is yet to start.

In his reaction: National Coordinator of Committee for Democracy and Rights of the People, Alhaji Amitolu Shittu, said President Jonathan should simply resign if he can not rule Nigeria without sentiments.

“Why should Allison-Madueke not be probed? Is it because she is helping the President to stash away money for his coming re-election? This is why the letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo should be revisited,” Shittu said.

200  Forum / The Buzz Central / "God also told me two governors will die before the end of 2015"-Prophet Soul E on: 29-03-2014 09:22 AM

After the backlash which accompanied his earlier prophesy about Wizkid & Davido ,Soul E says he is not seeking attention because he is too busy for that. Also gave another prophesy. He told Punch...

"I have always been in the public eye. My marriage caused a scenario in this country. I don’t know what people saw in me. Anybody who feels I am seeking for attention is making a serious mistake; I am too busy for that. I am in Abuja at the moment; I am heading to Lagos and Port Harcourt before the end of the week. I am busy. I am just doing the work of my father.
It was my God who instructed me to give the prophecy and I have done that. I am not wishing anybody anything bad. All they have to do is to pray. I have received calls from Aso Rock. I got prophesies for Wizkid, Davido and Aso Rock and I said what God asked me to say. I told them to pray. God doesn’t give you prophecy for you to be scared but for you to be aware and pray about it,“They are not my friends and I don’t talk to them. In fact, I have never seen them before and I am not sure they know me. I am not saying they are my enemies. I had to go on Facebook and Instagram to pass my messages. I have said what I want to say and it is fine by me. If they want to take it, fine and if they don’t want to, that is not my problem. I am not a pastor, I am a prophet. A prophet announces his prophecies.
He told me two northern governors will go, they will die before the end of 2015. This is what God showed me. Prophets come to tell you what God is saying about a situation. Pastors will tell you ‘you are blessed,’ Prophets will tell you to be careful or tell you not to marry the particular person you wanted to marry because of the vision they had seen"
