About 23 victims had been rescued by the Police on the 22nd of March from an abandoned building with skeletons and skulls scattered all over in Soka, Oluyole LGA of Oyo State. One of the eyewitness, who helped with the search and rescue activity at the Soka Forest recounting what happened on that day said, they got a call from a friend who said he had been taken forest. he Board of Directors of Zenith Bank Plc yesterday announced the appointment of Peter Amangbo as the Managing Director designate.
He is to replace Godwin Emefiele who has been appointed by the federal government as the new Central Bank governor. Mr. Emefiele was confirmed by the Senate last week which has made it imperative for Zenith Bank board to appoint a new Managing Director.
The bank board approved the appointment of Mr. Peter Amangbo as the Managing Director/CEO-designate of the bank effective June 1, 2014. Mr. Amangbo takes over from Mr. Godwin Emefiele who has been appointed the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He [Davido] can’t even put up one 'Surulere' picture because his past is brighter than some people’s future.”

A boy in Daya Village, Fika LGA of Yobe State, today Monday March 31st allegedly killed his younger brother and removed his tongue and eyes, Premium Times reports A resident of Daya, Ishmail Daya, said that the younger boy had gone missing three days ago and that while a search was going on in the village, the older brother was found with his brother’s tongue and eyes. “He killed his younger brother and buried him on his father’s farmland,” Ishmail said. Both the alleged killer and the victim are believed to be underage. He insisted that there had been no prior quarrel between the siblings. “There was no fight, he just killed his brother. Though investigation is still going on, but there was no fight,” he said.
The district head and Galadima of Fika, Fika LGA, Garba Daya, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it actually happened in Daya,” he said, adding that the killer was currently in police custody.
Efforts to reach the Yobe Police command proved futile as the state Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Rufai, did not pick his calls or respond to text messages as at press time.

Labiru Badmus, a 42-year old staff of an electricity distribution company was electrocuted over the weekend in Idimu- Ikotun, Lagos State while carrying out some repairs on an electricity pole in the area.
Labiru had left their Ikotun office with other staff to carry out an assignment and before they left, the transmission light was switched off. After he climbed the pole, electricity supply was restored and he was electrocuted.
The deceased's family is alleging that his colleagues deliberately murdered him by switching on the light while he was still on top of the pole, adding that after the incident the team that went to carry out repairs with him abandoned him there until someone else rushed him to the National Orthopaedic Hospital , Igbobi, where the doctors certified him dead.
The family wondered why the same people who sent him to work on the pole restored the light that eventually electrocuted him.
His wife who is heavily pregnant said she suspects her husband was murdered.
According to report, the deceased who has three children was to be promoted this week as a senior staff of the company before the incident happened.
His charred body has been deposited at the mortuary at Yaba, Lagos.

With an already compromised immune system – Agbo is bullshit. It is poison. MS is not malaria. I gave Zara clear details of exactly what she needed to do to try to get well. It isn’t easy at all - I should know but unfortunately for her, she was surrounded by very ignorant people at the end who felt that they knew best. I first heard of Zara when I read about her on Linda Ikeji‘s blog a year ago. I got in touch with her immediately and started a Skype friendship. I was in London and she was in the States (US). Zara was worried that she wouldn’t get married and have kids – I told her that I had 4 kids and was happily married and continued to work and that there was hope. The residents of Ikot Oku Mfang in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom were shocked when they found out what happened to their 46-year-old neighbour. The man, identified as Mfon Daniel Nduke, was roasted alive by a mysterious fire in his own apartment. Property worth millions of naira was also destroyed in the incident. According to witnesses, the fire started at about 9 pm and burnt the victim completely. An elder brother of the victim and owner of the building said the cause of the fire was still a mystery. He told the members of the household were in bed, when they suddenly started feeling some kind of smoke. Soon the entire house was covered in smoke. The fire service of the state did not officially confirm the cause of the fire. A two-year-old girl kidnapped by a Pastor and one other person has been rescued by Ondo state Police Command and the kidnappers arrested. The baby who was kidnapped a few weeks ago in Akure was rescued in Ughelli, Delta state on Saturday where the Pastor had kept her with a middle aged woman after fleeing with other suspects to Balyesa state. The 28-year-old Pastor Okpara Emmanuel Chigozie of Believers Prayer Ministry, Orji, Owerri, Imo state and the other suspect, 25-year-old Chinonye Anufor were said to have requested a sum of N50m as ransom from the Parents of the kidnapped girl but reduced the money to N5million after negotiation. The Police PPRO, Wole Ogodo said that acting on a tip-off, the detectives stormed the hide out of the kidnappers where the woman and the baby were found. The Police spokesman said that the detectives after rescuing the baby returned to the state with the baby at about 1am on Saturday.
South Africa – A 20-year-old man was allegedly gang-raped and left in a burning room in a vacant house in the new Lerato Park housing development at the weekend.
Residents are fuming after the incident, which they believe to be a homophobic attack.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous fearing intimidation from the five men who allegedly committed the crime, said she woke up at about 5am on Sunday morning, only to see flames coming from the house that is attached to hers.
“Members of the community came with buckets of water and as we approached the second floor of the house, where the flames were coming from, a young man came running down the stairs. He wanted to run away but we calmed him.
“He said that five men had raped him because he was a homosegxwal. They then tried to kill him by setting fire to a mattress, apparently on which they raped him. He managed to escape. Fortunately only his shoes got burned,” the woman said.
She added that the police arrived on the scene late in the morning and took the alleged victim to the police station to complete a statement and then to the hospital for medical attention.
The woman also alleged that vacant houses at the Lerato Park housing development were becoming hot spots for prostitution, gangsterism and drug use.
“We call on the Sol Plaatje Municipality to allocate these houses to deserving residents. These vacant houses are being damaged and are used as places to commit crime and use drugs. That is something we don’t want in Lerato Park. My two young children – one three years old and the other only three months old – had to be left in the cold in the middle of the night because I feared that the fire might reach my home. They are being brought up in dangerous circumstances because these houses are used for criminal activities,” she said.
Another neighbour reacted to the alleged homophobic attack, saying that no-one had the right to rape another despite their segxwal orientation.
“While I might not agree with homosegxwality, we cannot discriminate against anyone on the basis of their segxwal orientation. Everybody has the same rights and we must respect that. Homosegxwals have feelings just like straight people,” the man said.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant Sergio Kock, confirmed on Sunday that members of the Galeshewe Family Violence Child Protection and segxwal Offences Unit were investigating a case of rape and the police in Roodepan were investigating arson pertaining to the incident.
