List of Nigeria's Highest Earning CEOs in the Oil and Gas Industry. They are swimming in oil and making their bucks! According to Nigerian Banks Financial Transparency report jointly produced by BusinessDay and Source Capital Research, today we bring you the top 7 highest paid chief executives among listed petroleum products marketing companies in Nigeria.

1. CEO/MD, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc: Annual Earnings: N85 Million Naira


The managing director of Mobil Nigeria takes home annual remuneration of N85 million per annum, which is about 23 percent more than the next highest paid director.
The sum of N85 million per annum amount to about N231, 956 per day!!! (including Saturdays and Sundays).

Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc (MON) is engaged in the marketing of petroleum products. The Company operates more than 200 retail outlets located in all 36 states of Nigeria. MON owns three plants located in Apapa, Lagos State, that manufacture lubes, petroleum jelly and insecticide.

Mobil Oil Nigeria’s turnover improved from N58.34 billion in 2010 to N62.1 billion in 2011. However, profit before tax dropped to N5.52 billion compared with N5.72 billion in 2010. Profit after tax followed the downtrend at N3.75 billion in 2011 as against N3.89 billion in 2010. A combined dividend per share of N5 and bonus issue of one for five shares has helped Mobil Oil Nigeria to nearly take over as the industry’s highest-priced stock.

No 2. Managing Director/CEO of Oando Plc

Annual Earnings: N69 Million Naira

The managing director of Oando Plc is second highest paid chief executive in the oil sector with total annual remuneration of N69 million. This amounts to N189,041 per day. Oando Plc has the largest board among the analysed companies. It has a total of 16 members on its board.

Oando Plc is one of Africa’s largest integrated energy solutions providers. It has a primary listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and a secondary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
The Oando Group comprises six companies who are leaders in their market: Oando Marketing, Oando Supply & Trading, Oando Gas & Power, Oando Energy Services, Oando Exploration and Production and Oando Terminaling.

Oando Plc had recently issued a fourth quarter 2011 profit warning and projected a profit after tax of N2.976 billion for the first quarter ended 31st March, 2012.

It also projected N3.612 billion for second quarter 2012 and N6.588 billion for the half year 2012, a 1.4 per cent drop from N6.679 billion during the same period in 2011.

The company put its sales in quarter one 2012 at N141.838 billion; N191.354 billion in quarter two 2012 and N333.192 billion for the half year 2012 which is 24.4 per cent improvement over N267.812 billion posted in the same period of 2011.
