The Victor Moses transfer saga is taking a new turn as his agent has angered Wigan officials once again by admitting he’ll do everything in his power to help his client join Chelsea this summer. Moses’ representative Tony Finnigan insists he favoured Wigan by bringing the Nigerian to the club instead of his initial destination and would not be stopped by their current posture.
Wigan have already snubbed Chelsea’s opening offer of £4m for Moses, but expect the Blues to return to the negotiating table next week to try and find a compromise.
Moses, who is also a long-term target for Liverpool, has told Wigan chairman Dave Whelan he is desperate to quit the DW Stadium during the summer transfer window, but the Latics supremo has rubbished the talk and blames the player’s agent for stirring the situation.
“The agents are just coining in money off the backs of these lads. It makes you wonder whether it’s all worth it,” Whelan told the Daily Mirror.
However, Finnigan has since hit back, suggesting that Wigan were lucky to have signed the former Crystal Palace star in the first place.
“I know how these things work, but I’m not getting involved in a slanging match,” Finnigan stressed.
“All I will say is, how did Victor end up at Wigan, when he could have gone to Manchester City? Who took him to Wigan?’
The comments are said to have incensed Whelan, but Finnigan has now gone one step further, revealing by the weekend that he will now do everything he can to help Moses out of Wigan.
“Providing Wigan can agree a fee with Chelsea, I will do all I can to make the move happen for Victor,” he added.
Chelsea have not renewed the contract of Ivoirian international striker, Salomon Kalou. The 26-year old Ivoirian who arrived at the Blues in 2006 has reached the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and has not seen it extended by the directors at Chelsea. He is one of those close watchers of Chelsea listed to leave Stamford Bridge in order to create room for Moses or any other player if they fail to grab the Super Eagles attacker.
Wigan are demanding up to £12m for Moses, while Chelsea are said to value him at closer to £8m, but could throw in the season-long loan of talented play-maker Josh McEachran to help smooth out a deal.
