ADO-EKITI—Officials of Ekiti State Ministry of Youths and Sports have started ridding Ado-Ekiti, the state capital of street beggars, destitute and mentally-ill persons.
At a briefing after the first day of the operation, Youths and Sports Commissioner, Chief Folorunso Olabode, said all the persons apprehended during the exercise will be kept at the State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre in Ado-Ekiti for care and protection while non-indigenes among them will be relocated to their various states of origin.
The commissioner assured that some of the destitute would be exposed to skill acquisition to make them self-reliant after their rehabilitation.
Folorunso added that the ministry had engaged the services of psychiatric doctors from Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital to provide care for those that are mentally- challenged among those in custody.
He disclosed that the exercise will be extended to all the nooks and crannies of the State adding that over 30 persons were apprehended during the first day of the operation.
Chief Folorunso who advised youths in the state not to engage in drug abuse and other harmful habits that could affect their minds.,urged them to channel their energy to positive development.
He also charged parents to monitor their children and report cases of strange behaviors to the ministry.

sounds funny, why do you want the youth to engage in something good, when you and ut governor are stealing what belongs to the youth, if u ask thier parents to monitor them¿¿ who monitors you and ur governor, if u want to take non ekiti state indigenes back to thier states, then u must call back or go to the all states in Nigeria and call them back, cos what u intend to do is same thing boko harams are doing, asking non christians to go back to thier states, fooools
