Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has joined other world leaders to mourn the late President of Ghana, Prof. John Atta Mills, describing him as an urbane and knowledgeable gentleman whose love for Ghana was palpable.
In a condolence letter to the new President of Ghana, Mr. John Mahama, Fashola noted that the late Mills succeeded during his reign to make Ghana a reference point not only in the West African sub-region but on the African Continent.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, also quoted Fashola as saying that, “He built on the achievements of his predecessors with his wise and pragmatic approach to governance and succeeded in making Ghana a reference point in West Africa and, indeed, the Continent”.
Fashola, who described the late President as a great patriot, declared that , “Without doubt, this generation will continue to draw inspiration from his life and times and celebrate his exemplary life of service to the Ghanaian nation and Africa”.
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji has sent a condolence message to the government and people of Ghana on the sudden death of their president, John Atta Mills.
