There are strong indications that Corporal Abbey Adekunle, a police officer, who allegedly killed a unit chairman of Three Wheelers Operators in Meiran, a Lagos suburb may be dismissed from the force.

Nigerian Compass recalled that last weekend was hellish in Meiran, following the alleged killing of Dele Oroja, chairman of the Meiran unit of the Three Wheelers Operators Association for refusing to part with N50 as bribe to Adekunle.

The incident sparked off a clash between the police and Keke Marwa operators, who openly condemned the extortionist activities of some corrupt police officers attached to Meiran police station.

According to sources in the area, some corrupt police officers from Merian police station have been collecting money from okada riders, Keke Marwa operators and commercial bus drivers very early in the morning and late at night at Ile Iwe bus stop.

Speaking also on the incident, Ngozi Braide, Lagos police spokesperson said that the police command is on top of the situation and will ensure that justice is done and clearly seen to have been done I the case of Corporal Abbey Adekunle.
