Nigerian players receive life ban over Match fixing scandal
Players and officials involved in the match fixing scandal, the two Nigerian promotion play-off games that ended 79-0 and 67-0 have been banned for life.
Plateau United Feeders were 79-0 won over Akurba FC while Police Machine FC smashed Bubayaro FC 67-0.
According to Vice President of Nigerian football governing body, Mr. Mike Umeh, they were able to establish that all of the players and officials involved in the scandal actually fixed the matches. The NFF also endorsed the life ban recommended by the panel on the match commissioners for the two matches as well as the center referees and the assistants for not living up to their responsibilities and for allowing the game to be brought to disrepute.
