Boko Haram has released a new video. And in it, Abubakar Shekau, the leader of Boko Haram, says he has created an Islamic caliphate in northeast Nigeria town, Gwoza town, seized by the insurgents earlier this month.
The new video was obtained by AFP today. According to Abubakar, Boko Haram sect is now completely in control of the town as Nigerian soldiers have been unable to displace the militants who only last week overcame police officers at the police academy in the town, causing them to flee.
Shekau declared in the 52-minute video that Gwoza, in Borno state, now has "nothing to do with Nigeria". That Gwoza is no longer a part of Nigeria.

“Thanks be to Allah who gave victory to our brethren in Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic caliphate. By the grace of Allah, we will not leave the town. We have come to stay,” he said.
