No fewer than four persons have been killed at Iyano ward in Ibaji Local government area of Kogi state following the political crisis that erupted between supporters of the People Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress.
The crisis was said to have started as a result of the outcome of the last Saturday’s Presidential and National Elections in the Area.
Addressing news men in Lokoja yesterday, the APC ward Chairman, Thomas Ejimah alleged that one Hon Simon Achuba, a former House Assembly member and a PDP stalwart in the area allegedly sponsored some thugs to unleash terror on their community for voting for APC candidates in the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Ejimah explained that a group, called ‘Abugaja boys’, allegedly sponsored by the PDP stalwart unleashed terror on their community killing one Emmanuel Ameh after the collation of the results.
Few days later, when it dawned on the PDP, that the APC won all the elections in the ward, he said, the same group resurfaced in the community to launch a fresh attack killing one Gabriel Ejimah who was shot in the abdomen.
Not satisfied, the APC chieftain alleged that the PDP stalwart in the area again yesterday mobilized his boys, to kill two of his sons; Paul Egwumi and Raymond Egwumi while working in their farm.
In his words “This PDP stalwart has been threatening my life and he has succeeded in killing my brother and two of my sons, all because he said we were supporting Buhari an Hausa man over Jonathan who is a Christian like us, now I am the next target and my life is no longer safe” he added
He lamented that inspite of the several reports he lodged at the Divisional Police station in Onyedaga, Police state headquarters,Lokoja and the Department of State Security Service , Lokoja nothing has so far been done Ejimah claimed that the ex -lawmaker has been having a running battle with his community over a land tussle and only hid under their support for the APC in the last election to vent his angers on them.
Several phone calls put across to the ex-Lawmaker to hear his own side of the case proved abortive as his cell phone went dead.
