The University of Ibadan, UniIbadan, yesterday declared that though over 33,000 candidates applied through JAMB for admission into the institution for the next academic session, it could only admit 3,000. This was disclosed in Ibadan by UI’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Gbemisola Oke, at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Distance Learning Centre, DLC, of the institution.
She therefore encouraged prospective students who met admission requirements, but could not gain admission to embrace Distance Learning to satisfy their needs of qualitative tertiary education.
According to her, “If we can’t meet the need of our people through the regular face to face mode, then we should use the Open Distance Learning, ODL. “Education drives growth and development and it must be at the centre for any nation to make advancement,” she said.
The DVC assured that the university would ensure qualitative and standard distance learning education, with strict adherence to the mandate of the nation’s premier university. This post is not true at all...I represent uniben at the NUC and JAMB stakeholders meeting at abuja last week and the number of students UI said she can accept through the utme is far far more the 3000 students so please stop feeding people with false news.even the registrar DR O.I olukoya was present at that meeting.what he said was that UI can only admit less than 3000 student into professional courses like medicine and other medical related courses because of the directive given by the NUC to regulate the number of student been admitted Into those discipline.so please always get the information straight.so please I encourage all student aspiring to gain admission into the university to read hard and prepare well.thanks

No again. Extra year for the innocent student. jamb needs to do something by transferring their names into any available institution (not just private uni).
