Body of University Student Found Dead in Boyfriend Room After Celebrating Valentine's Day

The death of a 24-year-old student of the University of Jos, Plateau State, inside her room shortly after shortly after celebrating the last Valentine's Day with her boyfriend, has thrown residents of the Nassarawa Gwong area of the state capital into shock and confusion.

The girl whose name was given as Nanchin Ayuba, according to reports, had gone out with her boyfriend on the day which was a Sunday and at night, they both returned to her apartment to spend the night but the next, her dead body was discovered with the boyfriend nowhere in sight.
The man was later traced and arrested by the police after residents made statements to the police and is currently in detention.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Emmanuel Abuh, confirmed the incident, saying the command is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the death of the lady.  “One suspect said to be a boyfriend of the deceased has been arrested and is currently in police custody,” Abuh said. The deceased’s aunt, who did not want her name in print, said that the boyfriend has a culture of violence, and could have beaten her to death in the night.
