Must Africans imitate everything from the western world, they never protest against the economy problem and poverty wallowing the people of Nigeria they're protesting over equality, have they been deprived of their rights in Nigeria, they have used religious sentiments to emaciate our culture, norm and value just to embrace western culture, if at all, we want to emulate the westerners we should select the good from them not the bad ones, before delving to this request which they says it's their rights do they also critically examine the positive and the negative side of it, listen, the westerners implement laws based on their levels of exposure and development, by the way how many people of Nigeria know their common fundamental human rights and besides Nigeria constitution is not strengthen to contain this kind of rights to the people, because in Nigeria money and influence hijacked the power of law, to be frank , Nigeria is not yet to the level to implement this kind of laws if at all they want to, but in Nigeria the women never been denied of their rights.
This will only cause advoc, divorce will escalate and promote family crisis just like the ones we are seeing here in Europe, equality is what the westerners called 50/50, in relationships 50/50 in marriage 50/50 everything is equal.

Nigerians should not fear gender equality..For the men,do you want your sisters ,mothers ,auntie to be treated lees than a man.....Both men and women have two legs and two  hands and should treated the same way...

complete ignorant statement...do you know that the Nigerian police do not give guns to female officer who are just as qualified as the men....do you know that we have never had a female defense minister or air force or navy chief even though women have been enrolling in the army for years. How many female governors have we had in Nigeria?...so educate yourself about the plight of women in nigeria

Only 1 captain can control a ship. The man is the sole head of the family. Gender equality -an African fantasy.

Equality as in what?  Nigeria has multiple cultures and religious beliefs. If they are asking for equality in the employment sector (equal pay/opportunity for growth), I would support them 100%. If they are asking for equality in governance and leadership of the country, I will also support them; but, politics is free for all - if u have power to win, then go for it. However, if they are trying to import alternative orientation and wish the society accepts them, then I will not support them at all.
