Some bad gang members invaded this Church, Mount Zion gospel church Aka-Itiam Assembly, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, this weekend, setting the altar laden with music instruments on fire .
Their reason was that the pastor and his members were frustrating their criminal operations in the area with constant prayers and day-to-day activities.
A resident, said that heavily armed youths stormed the sanctuary, on Friday, while the members have gone to their homes at night, they came and wrecked this havoc and then flee.
We asked if there was leadership or managerial crisis in the church, he said there was none to his knowledge. According to the pastor he said that the church did not hold its usual Sunday service because of the attack.
The shocked Pastor, Elijah Inyang, said the relationship between Aka –Itiam Assembly established June 10, 2011 and the community was convivial and there was no leadership problem. he said...“Well, I am short of words because this type of incident has never happened. They broke into the church and as you can see, destroyed our altar, set it on fire and destroyed all the musical instruments.

I don't think they are bandits but people who live in the area who had enough of the noise from that business centre called church. Playing loud music from evening to morning without giving people a chance to sleep after a hard days work, at least they Will have a good night rest for now.
