50-Yr-Old Businesswoman Residing In VGC Murdered By Gateman Over Salary

Indications emerged, yesterday, that the 50-year-old businesswoman, whose discomposing body was found in her apartment last week at the Victoria Garden City, VGC, was allegedly murdered by her gate man, following an argument over the latter’s salary.

Vanguard was reliably informed that the deceased, Mabel Okafor, who lived alone in her palatial duplex at House J68B, Close 9, VGC, Ajah, had no domestic worker except the gate man.

The gate man, with an undisclosed identity, was said to have resumed work about two months ago. He was reportedly brought by the deceased’s former gate man.

When Vanguard visited the house yesterday, security was beefed up in the area, with residents refusing to speak to the reporter.

However, a resident who did not want his name in print, said: “Nobody knew that the woman was dead until last Friday. We learned that she was stabbed last Wednesday, but it was not until her church members visited on Friday that they found her decomposing body.

“The gate of the building was only bolted, but not locked when the church members came.

“One of them said they became apprehensive after several calls to her mobile telephone indicated that her line was switched off, prompting them to pay her a visit, only to be welcome with a stench from her room.

“Her body was found on the floor of the sitting room downstairs, with a knife protruding out of her stomach.

Gate man’s threat
“After her death, some gate men from the suspected culprit’s ethnic group said he had boasted that he would leave an indelible mark on her madam, following argument over increase in his salary.

“They said he claimed he was being paid N20,000 but demanded for an increase of N10,000 but the woman refused. The fleeing gate man was quoted by some gate men here to have argued that he usually washed his madam’s car and also swept the compound.”

Another resident, who simply gave his name as Goke, said: “Police have not been able to get the gate man since the incident occurred, neither have they been able to reach the one that brought him.

“In fact, the gate man went away with her phone. We have been warned several times to employ private guards from registered security companies, but some landlords here do not heed the advice.

“Had the fleeing gate man been employed from a registered company, it would have been easy for police to get him.

“How can one who owned a property worth about N300 million not be able to employ the services of a registered security agents, but chose to go for cheap labour?”

Hmmmm wat do I say. D last comment gas said it all. "How can someone so rich to live in VGC can't contract private security company yo secure him or get place. Now d former security person has sent his brother to murder d woman cus of salary increase. Some employers are very wicked no doubt but killing is not f solution. Too bad

It's her choice to employ whoever she wants to employ, afterall it could have been one of gate men who works for a registered agency...
U never know who could do it so don't blame her for dat...
Wat if na registered gate man from the agency wetin we go talk..?

Wat if she doesn't like people living with her bcos it makes her unhappy..
Wat if she no get man to live with her..?
And wat if she no get children which is obvious..?

No matter how hard you tried to avoid life wahala, u will never succeed. How can you blame the woman for living a lone, is her life style like wise everyone else. I know of a woman who lives with her dog alone she is equally rich, that's how she choose to live her life and she has a reason for that... The gateman has to be found and executed immediately.

"A lesson and eye opener for some people'' @Dickieponga, living alone is never a crime, but to be so rich and decide to live with only a GATE MAN whom I'm sure is an ABOKI, then you really don't value your life" 

I once lived in a house with an ABOKI as GATE MAN, just like the story above, this guy was also recommended by another ABOKI who needed to go back to his village to FARM. This new ABOKI liked me very much cause I was close and nice to him. One day, there was an argument between myself and someone in the neighbourhood, right in front of the gate of the house I lived. Suddenly, this ABOKI guy went straight to his room and brought out a DAGGER without even knowing what caused the argument, he was ready to kill the other guy just for arguing with me.. I was shocked and terrified and couldn't believe what I was seeing. From that moment on, my fear for those ABOKI security men went from 0 to 100 in just a few seconds.

When they say they'd KILL/HARM YOU.. They actually mean it, their level of reasoning is totally different.. ''THEY ARE STILL EVOLVING''
