the fact that someone is a professor doesn't mean that we should accept everythin he is saying, i think the man is wrong for saying jonathan is weak, a professor like him should know how a democracy government is being run.
Amen.
I will like to see him set up some scholarships for the people of Nigeria.

Imagine a Nigerian insulting Chinua Achebe of all people. If we do not respect our true heroes, how then do we expect other countries to respect us. Everyone has a right to ignorance and dumbness but you have no right to spread it across a forum like this. I will advise the admin of this forum to delete such offensive comments for this forum not to lose its credibility and appeal. How do you expect intelligent minds to remain in this forum after reading some of the comments here. If it were in some other forums like NairaLand, such comments would have been deleted and that is why it has remained the number one forum for Nigerians. The fact that we have freedom of speech does not mean that we should come here to portray Nigerians as unintelligent people. Remember that this site is also viewed by other nationals from other countries.

Some of the comments here just goes to highlight how bad the standard of education has fallen in this country. In the past, the youths and students would have been in the fore-front of the struggle for a better Nigeria. They would have come out with demonstrations and positions articulating their ponts brilliantly. We used to have high-profile student leaders like Femi Falana, Olusegun Maiyegun, Mike Igini, etc. Now, is it not a shame that it is the elderly like Soyinka, Bakare, Falana, etc that are leading the struggle while the youths just stand to watch, maybe because they are not intelligent enough to articulate their points. These days, no one knows who the NANS president is but before everyone knew who the Student Union leader of UNILAG or UNIBEN or UI was. You should rather be ashamed of yourself and fearful for your future rather than come here to insult someone who, even if he dies today, will die as well-accomplished and by all standards successful.

What has OMATU done? People who cannot perform the task run those who can down. What could Jonathan have done to what happened in Jos? No one talks about making him a substantive president. Yet, he is doing all this out of courage. Critics, this is democracy.

Thanks for your comment. It's surprising that rather than address the issue at hand people embark on character assasination. Educational institution at present in Nigeria is not what it used to be. There has been bastardization of the system which resulted in the outcome of the end result. We now have half-baked graduates who takes pride in deriding the greats. In as much as i believe in freedom of expression, we should be careful in our utterances. Until Nigerians de-emphasise the importance of materialism as a precondition to happiness, until politics is not seen as a gateway to riches, until the looters of Nigerian treasurys realise that when they die, their Billions in foreign accounts becomes the properties of the host nations, our dear Country Nigeria will continue to wallow in poverty. I call on all well-meaning Nigerians to rise up to fight corruption, nepotism, favouratism and all social vices eating deep into the fabrics of our society. 'what it takes for evil (men) to triumph is for the good (men) to remain silent'.

He is not a trained politician.  He should work on improving Nigerian education as well as its infrastructures.  That should be a legacy he should strive for.

Omatu, your childishness is not, but, extreme foolishness encrusted in chronic ignorance.

You never talk about your elders like that. It is not African.

Your subsequent irritation and your Goat-like droppings on these pages magnifies your foolishness for the whole world to see. It is disturbing that u could still re-type your insults as gems to be defended. What worries you? Was no adult about to put u inline during the formative years of your foolery? Hmnn! That u dare to cast your disdain for a Great Grand Master of Nigerian Literature confirms you are out of your senses. What perplexes me the most is that u can write readable English. I think it would be wise to say that foolishness flows in your veins. It would also be correct to say u have the heart of a bagger.

Omatu, u are not fit for poetry. U are not fit for a decent essay. U are fit for diagnosis and prognosis. When one writes about you, it should be mechanical. U don't deserve a decent phrase. Something like "Name:", 'Omatu' and "Mental State:", 'Chronic foolishness, lack of a moral compass/centre, gross immaturity, degenerating Intelligent Quotient.....' would suffice.

I wont write more lines for to that would be to accord your 'thing-ness' unnecessary attention.

Have a good day. I doubt u would. For, a foolish day\way is yours by your choice.

Ha aha aha aha ahahahahha. Small pikin. I dey shake my head. Small pikin. Chei! God, is this what is becoming of Nigerian Kids? God help us

...there is a saying that the best way to keep a secret from an illiterate is to put it down in a book" i only paraphrased the objects of the verbal challenge for obvious reasons.
Anyone calling Achebe names must be sent in for therapy because that mentality in itself is a problem to be solved. That is why Nigeria is still in a very bad shape. we dont listen to sound reasoning and thought-through ideas like those of Chinua Achebe. I registered on this site just to respond to this thread because it is an embarrassment to our country to hear people opening their guts against one of the best brains we can boast of.

We really have to change our mentality, and start appreciating the pursuit of happiness, quality and ingenuity rather than our senseless pursuit of instant gratification. Chinua Achebe followed a part that gave him some fulfilment in life, and he does not need to be a politician to know that black is not white. Please find time and read his book, THE TROUBLE WITH NIGERIA. His contributions in terms of researched ideas and the way forward for our leadership, cannot be juxtaposed with the patron-client sycophancy found in our ruling class.

You gave me a good laugh.

Chinua Achebe in this picture looks like an ostrich, a turkey, an old woman, a cross dresser.  Chinua Achebe is a very good writer, and I admire his writings.  I think that Chinua Achebe will not be good as a politician in Nigeria as a president.  He may be good as an education minister or a cross-cultural minister.

You see your name being agabs says it all.  You are the brother to Ahab and your wife is Jezebel.  You can remain disturbed.

I am enjoying myself.  Continue your stupidness.
