If Roy Hodgson wanted an easy run of games to end Crystal Palace's dire run, he arguably faces the toughest possible starting with a trip to Manchester City.

The Eagles become the first team in English top-flight history - dating back to 1888 - to start a season with no points and no goals after five games thanks to a 1-0 loss to Southampton on Hodgson's return.

Now it's City, who have scored 17 goals and conceded just one over their previous four games, before visiting Manchester United and then welcoming Chelsea to Selhurst Park as the Eagles look to end their losing.

Will the return of Mamadou Sakho in midweek be the boost Palace need, or is this record-breaking run of form showing no immediate signs of ending?


Team news
Ilkay Gundodan made his first start for Manchester City of 2017 on Wednesday night, having recovered from an ACL, but limped off before time so will miss the weekend game.

Elsewhere, Vincent Kompany could feature and will be assessed ahead of time.

Roy Hodgson has no fresh injury concerns and will have been delighted to see Mamadou Sakho play 70 minutes on his return from his own long-term knee injury.

Pape Souare also featured as Huddersfield were beaten 1-0 in the EFL Cup, playing the full second half.
