Islamic Republic of Iranian Broadcasting, IRIB, on Friday, failed to broadcast a match between Bayern Munich and Ausburg in the Bundesliga because German referee Bibiana Steinhaus was officiating.
According to Deutsche Welle, the broadcast was stopped because of the country's strict Islamic laws which do not allow images of women wearing shorts to be shown on TV.
The Iranian women's football team play in hijab, long-sleeved shirts and trousers. Female football fans were allowed into the main national stadium for the first time in 37 years during the World Cup after the government relaxed its ban on women at sporting events.
