It is an open fact that Nigerian landlord have a bad outlook at women who are unmarried and seeking to live on their own, a woman recently shared her experience with a landlord in Ibadan who request her to go bring her husband before he can rent his house to her. Unfortunately this is a sector that the government tend to side with the house owners in a misogynistic show that empowers stereotyping of young single female looking to start their own independent lives. Hopefully the government will step up to take some action about this in the future, because the situation is very bad.

 A duplex for unmarried lady? That is too much from my point of view
I think the landlord was trying to advise her to manage her finances. That Yoruba adage relate to that from the conversation.
