It emerged yesterday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may investigate the controversial appointment of Lars Lagerback as coach of the Eagles.
Presidential spokesman, Ima Niboro, hinted that there will be an inquiry on how the coach was hired. And also the books will be opened on all funding concerning the World Cup.
Coach Lagerback was hired in March 2010 amidst controversy. He was selected from a short list of five coaches including Sven Goran Eriksson and former England coach Glenn Hoddle.
After the interviews conducted in Abuja, Mr. Hoddle alleged that certain Nigeria Football Association and Sports Ministry officials had asked him to hike his pay from $900, 000 to $1.5m, before he could be given the job.
NFA officials vehemently denied any wrong doing in the selection process. They insisted that it was Lagerback’s power point presentation that swayed the job in his favour.
Lagerback’s pay for five months of was $1.5 million. But the Swede failed to deliver at the World Cup as the Eagles failed to win a single match in their group B pairings.

woooo... dats quite a huge amount of money they paid to HIM( LARS), i wonder why nigerian officials are interested in defrauding the state which they are part of. I think Nigerians should begin to change their attitude with the so call white man, its just the skin, they have red blood cells, the same numbers of bones like us, no bigger or faster brains than us. its just the attitude and the right atmosphere any one of the local coaches would have done what he did if not better. shame! shame!

Efcc, pls go and sit down in the shit, will the coach go into the pitch and play the ball? Nonsenses.
abioh!Tell them oh.i dont know why when the supereagles fail to deliver, they always put the blame on the coach.rather than groom n bring up good teams and face the actual problems facing the nffnor nfa they call them selve, they keep on blaming and changing coaches.for God sake this coach was not here even up to a year n have all the players play together as a team.i support the investigation of the worldcup funding any way but not about blaming the coach for the failure of the eagles.
