Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has ordered that all Quranic, Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools should be shut down from Monday, March 23.

Governor Ganduje explained that the measure is to prevent the spread of coronavirus outbreak  in Nigeria. The chairman of the Islamic schools made this known on Sunday, March 22.

The state government had earlier ordered the closure of schools but didn’t specify if Islamic schools were affected.

Meanwhile, Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, said he is optimistic that there can’t be any case of coronavirus in the state.

Ikpeazu who disclosed this on Sunday, March 22, said God has promised the people of the state that no disease would touch them.

According to him, “Abia is the only state that is mentioned in the Bible. We have been promised by God that none of these diseases will get to us. We saw Ebola and pox, even this one (coronvirus) it won’t get to us.”
